Re: Wishlist >>Transmit noise reduction.
I am using an EV RE27 mike with a foam pop filter and work about 1 - 3 inches and talk in a normal voice. It helped my shack fan noise quite a lot. No breath noise and of course with that mike no proximity problems. Off topic - I have been using that mike thru a shure low impedance to high impedance...

I could no make it work all of the time. This seems to work for me: 1. Set your RX FX (DX in VFO A. 2. Lock VFO A. When he changes fx unlock A, retune for DX statioin and relock VFO A. 3. Hit Split and enter the max split DX is looking for calls in VFO B. 4. I have display set to Panafall. 5. Hit Mu...

Split Function
Normal split function works fine. VFO A is Receive fx (DX station) VFO B is my TX fx. I want to be able to have a second panadapter to view my transmit fx when in receive to try to find a clear spot that I can click on to change my tx fx to call the DX Station. Any suggestions? 73, Bill, WA2DVU Cape...

Re: 7000 receiver s meter calibration
Hi Scott, I found the level calibration routine and took 5 minutes to calibrate the level. The 7000 and Thetis are amazing! My 2- HP 8640B, 2 - 3336B, and Cushman 5100A outputs are within +/- 1 db. Not bad for thirty-seven old gear. :D Thank you for all of your help with the ANAN Group. 73, Bill,WA2...

I have several old sig gens (HP and Cushman) and they are all within 2 dB or so. One was at the cal lab a year ago. I did not know there was a level calibration routine. Where may it be? 73,

7000 receiver s meter calibration
I was checking my 7000 and found that the S meter calibration is off. Listed below is what I found. Any info would be appreciated. Signal Generator output = -73 dBm (50 mV S9) CW. HP 3336A (-70 dBm + 3 dB pad) Perseus reading = -73.2 dBm (AM 6 khz Apache Reading -60 dBm (AM 8 khz) Perseus reads what...

Re: Frequency accuracy
For FMT I have been using HP 3336, HP 3836, tek 465, Tek 465, and a dart board. On ground wave sigs I can measure within .01mhz. On FMT I can hit .1 at times when doppler is not to bad. I am on the east coast and it gets rough at times. I checked out my 7000 thousand and found the best I can measure...
Re: 2.6.9 Memory Tab

Re: Frequency measuring question
Hi Scott,
That makes sense - it is still amazing that the system can process 1 millisec stuff. The error does not affect any operations. I just wondered why it happens and tossed it to the gurus! Thanks again.

Re: Frequency measuring question
If you want to play with fx measuring with your rig - look at a carrier on the phase scope and dsb function. If the trace is rotating slow enough to count how long it takes to do one revolution. Then compute the reciprocal of that time in seconds. That will give you the fx error in hz. To compute th...

Frequency measuring question
I have been noticing some errors when measuring frequencies when using my 7000, phase display, and DSB function. My 7000, and HP 3336 sig gen time bases are synced to a lucent ks 24361 gpsdo unit. When I input a sig (5100 khz) from the generator the trace dot should not rotate as the sg and 7000 tim...

15 Mhz AM reception
I have had my 7000 for 6 months and it is fantastic - no problems.
I have noticed when I tune 15 Mhz WWV the audio gain drops. Plus or minus 1 HZ the gain is normal. All other AM stations are normal when tuned for their exact FX. Any idea why this happens? 73, Bill, WA2DVU Cape May.

Re: GPSDO Tutorial?
Don't get upset if your GPS and WWV don't match. WWV at 10MHZ can be off at your QTH 1HZ or more due to our friend doppler. I am one of the "FMT Nuts" group and when measuring fx to a few Millihertz, a dart board is your friend! 73, Bill, WA2DVU

Strong wavy lines on monitor when transmitting
Rig is 7000 + Ameritron 82 running 1 kw or so into Mosley Pro 57 at 60 feet. On 20 m SWR is 1.2 to 1.
