Hi all,
I've found and fixed the bug that led to crashes in linHPSDR when using pulseaudio on TX. While at it, I've collected a few contributions what were waiting in the pull requests pipeline. The result can be found here:

Re: WSJT-X FT8 signal images
I think the following picture illustrates the phenomenon quite nicely (recorded with SDR Console on 40m). There are two strong signals visible. The left one has pronounced intermodulation, at least two or three lines in parallel on either side. The right one, even though much louder, has much less p...

Re: WSJT-X FT8 signal images
I do see the same images, spaced closely apart at around 100Hz, from time to time. In rare cases I actually get multiple decodings from the same signal.
However, since this only happens for some stations. I find the theory of TX side problems due to intermodulation to be quite plausible.

Re: New 200D Orion Protocol 2 Firmware Topic
Hi, I'm one of those people with an itch. :) Let's see how long this lasts, but for now I want to contribute to the community. What I noticed is that there is a certain lack of keeping the zoo of different devices somewhat aligned in terms of development. Source code is not under any sort of version...

Hah, apparently I just didn't dig deep enough. Thanks! Builds from source, let's see.

Re: New 7000/8000 Orion MKII Protocol 2 Firmware Topic
Is there source code for the HPSDR Bootloader available? It might benefit from a bit of a facelift, and maybe a Linux port. Especially the "metis" in the file name requirement is a bit ugly. FWIW, I've sometimes been able to use the protocol 2 HPSDR Programmer on Linux, compiled from the s...

Re: New 7000/8000 Orion MKII Protocol 2 Firmware Topic
Using the Bootloader with a JTAG Interface is optional. Under normal circumstances you do not need this option. Yes, using JTAG should not be necessary. However, when something fails during the regular firmware update process using "HPSDR Programmer" (different programs for protocol 1 and...

Re: New 7000/8000 Orion MKII Protocol 2 Firmware Topic
Hi Erik, The programming process is very sensitive to all kinds of influences on the network conditions. Here's some of the things I did to make it work: * Disable all virtual network switches on your machine. Mine was installed by Hyper-V, other virtualization software such as VMWare or VirtualBox ...

Re: New 7000/8000 Orion MKII Protocol 2 Firmware Topic
Hi, I'm not sure if this is useful to anyone besides me, but just in case it is: I have created a github action that automatically builds the firmware binary file (.rbf) from the sources in the git repository every time the sources change. Here's the result of the run with the 2.0b sources: https://...

Re: Drive level issues
Yes, that's what I did. Set the audio gain so that the ALC is around 100, as instructed in the manual. Still need to turn the drive all the way down.

Drive level issues
Hi, I've managed to make my 7000DLE Mk2 with Firmware 2.0b work with SDR Console 3.0.22, and I've run into a very interesting issue. The TX Drive setting in SDR Console seems to be way off. In my first tests with a drive setting of 50 (using JDTX to generate an FT8 signal at 0dB), I saw the needle o...

Re: 7000DLEMKII Black Case Not Grounded
Oh wow, that is an interesting bug that I hadn't expected at this price point. I do like the black case for its compactness and robustness, will look into improving the ground connections. Thaks for pointing this out.

Re: New 7000/8000 Orion MKII Protocol 2 Firmware Topic
Hi Scott,
Yes, I'm aware, thanks! I've successfully used Quartus Prime Lite 19.1on Linux to build the firmware from the qar provided by Rick, both using the UI and also from the command line. It seems to work just fine, and it's currently running on my radio.

Re: New 7000/8000 Orion MKII Protocol 2 Firmware Topic
Thanks, very interesting! I tried importing the code into github, mainly as an experiment and to help me understand the code. Here's a link to the diff between 2.0b and 1.9: https://github.com/andreasdotorg/orion-mk2-firmware/commit/f749aa9ac44dcfe44233e8b00b6e4db0494f577b And while I can roughly fo...

Re: Problem with new 7000 Black Edition
FWIW, I also had the problem of losing network connectivity after flashing protocol version 2 firmware. After flashing back and forth between version 1 and 2 and scratching my head, I finally found out that my (very old) switch just doesn't like to actually speak Gigabit Ethernet, despite that being...

Re: New 7000/8000 Orion MKII Protocol 2 Firmware Topic
Hi,
I've been using the 2.0b firmware for a few days now. It seems to be stable for me. In particular it fixes the issues I've been seeing with loss of reception issues (high noise floor) when using PureSignal.
Would it be possible to get access to the .qar file at this stage?

Ah, ok, thanks for the pointer. I have updated the firmware and it seems to behave fine, let's see how it does in the long term.

Signal coherency loss with Thetis, Orion MkII and PureSignal2
Hi everybody, So I'm a new owner of a Anan 7000DLE MkII. I've updated the firmware to protocol 2, v1.9 (which was a bit of a nuisance, if you're running Hyper-V on your machine, make sure to disable the virtual network switch), and I'm running Thetis v2.6.9 with it. Without PureSignal, I'm seeing ve...
