Re: Even Better PureSignal Performance on your Apache Labs radio
Going to try this. I had noticed when I first tested my 7000 Mk II that the IMD on a separate SDR rx didn't match what I saw on the Thetis screen. I blamed it on the SDR but maybe not. Will see, looks as simple as disconnecting a mini coax cable.

Re: Transmit Audio File BU
So, what is the trick to get database manager to open up without it giving the message that "it can't be used while radio is powered on and must be shut down first" ????
I see in the video, he just clicks on database manager and it opens. I have to turn off power first.

Re: Beginning of transmission spike
Yes, rx noise will do it. My usb mic is / was always ON, so the TX mic buffer was capturing it prior to PTT and out came a short burst of whatever is going on in the rx. Had to use relay tied to mox output to keep mike muted until tx. Of course it all depends on level of rx audio vs placement of ...

Pull monitor audio off the receiver I-Q and not from the pure signal corrected I-Q going to transmitter. You loose one channel of monitor audio when in AM due to the way PS works on AM, at least that is the way it works with my 7000 and amplifier.

Re: Severe problem with PureSignal
Look at linearity with PS off using spectrum display.
This is 100 watts - 3rd order IMD on my 7000 about -30 dB from each tone.
With PS ON, it drops to -52 dB.
Sounds like his internal HW has issues since he gets same results with amplifier.

Re: Noise cancelling / Phasing using diversity
Another feature of the Diversity Tab is the ability to instantly swap between Rx 1 and Rx 2 and still retain the Display - as opposed to the split feature if activating RX2 separately (and having to select VAC1 or VAC2)
Simply select either Rx 1 or Rx 2 as the Receiver Source.

Use the remotehams.com and their app for android called RCForb. Or you can run it on your PC on the ship.
No monthly fees. You configure it as a "FLEX" radio since interface is the same.
Not exactly plug and play but setup is not all that difficult - you can PM me with any questions.

Competition for Pure Signal ?
Ads for the new Icom PW-2 1 KW amp say it has linearization when used with ICOM 7610 HF radio. They show IMD improvements similar to Pure Signal. Does not appear to use RF feedback, the block diagram shows an FPGA at input of the amp.

Might be something to his concern with 2.9.06. I've noticed a "flair up" in the broadband noise sometimes with voice input.

Yes, you could make a coupler for -10 dB but you'd experience the same rx path loss as a 10 dB pad, so no real advantage, that I can see.
Yes, a fixed 10dB pad probably has no observed effect on usable rx, at least below 20 meters, etc. Simplest way to add some protection without putting it inside ...

Re: Condenser headsets for 7000 DLE MKII
Using the VAC 1 input, I have one of the under $25 USB condenser mikes from Ebay, with the brand name IKEDON.
Plugs into a USB port on computer and totally eliminates all the RF pickup/feedback with analog mikes, at least in my case.
Just follow the W1AEX instructions on setting up equalization, etc.
