Re: 7000MKIII Protocol 2 Firmware

Just updated with revC, recent MkIII delivery, direct usb-c to ethernet connection. Recalibrated PureSignal afterward. No drama, so far so good. My occasional frame rate errors seem to have gone away (yay for faster pipes). Thanks for all the hard work making the new FW, and thanks for those brave e...

4-core 11th gen i7 vs 6-core 10th gen i7

Looking to get a NUC just to run Thetis (7000DLE Mk2, recent build, protocol 1). I typically would go with the most recent build spec, but reading here indicates that more cores is a plus so wondering about a machine with 16gb RAM and either a 6-core 10th gen or 4-core 11th gen i7 chip. Price seems ...

Re: CPU Usage

Even the most powerful Nvidia card won't help as there is no GPU processing involved in any of the DSP code. Even the cheapest DirectX capable GPU easily handles the display processing. So would a NUC with Iris Xe graphics be up to the task? I want to transition from a surface book 2 to a NUC (for ...

Re: fan noise (clattering)

Just to close the loop on this. Pulled the rear panel (6 hex head screws, then the retaining nuts for the bnc jacks. Gently folded it back and saw a loop of cable (looked like the fan power cable) was sitting within the housing area of the fan. Just reached in with a finger and moved the loop outsid...

Re: any issue running 7000DLE mk2 sitting on its side?

I just put some stick-on feet on the side and ran it no issue. That said, the issue that was making me think orthogonal (noisy fan) got fixed today. I pulled the back panel and as suspected the power cable for the fan had migrated to inside the fan housing real estate. Thankfully a quick fix - just ...

any issue running 7000DLE mk2 sitting on its side?

While I ponder doing surgery on my new 7000 to fix a noisy fan, I'm curious if there is any issue with using the radio sitting on its side. The fan area is actually more open/exposed (nothing taller beside it). The fan is silent that way. Seems it shouldn't matter but figured I'd ask the question.

fan noise (clattering)

Just got my 7000dle mk2 (3?) and have it up and running. The fan is quite loud, with a noise that sounds like physical contact. If I put the radio on its side the noise goes away, so I"m thinking something maybe got beat up in shipping (radio wasn't packed right from the factory) and there is s...
