Re: Transmit Drive Power
I should not have to send a brand new radio in for service. You should not but Apache is NOT alone in this, sadly. An Icom 7610 I had comes to mind as well as a couple of SPE amplifiers, all QC issues. Would love to hear an outcome on the issues though. I believe you that Apache is not alone. Perha...

Re: Transmit Drive Power
IMHO both of your units are legitimately defective. If you are both in North America I'd recommend you contact US service: dwigley at apache-labs.com It seems that Apache Labs has some quality control issues. I reported the problem with my radio within the ten day window specified for complete refu...

@Michael: I also have one of the latest batch of 7000 DLE Mk2.3 that makes poor power on 6m. Apache said they would replace it a few months ago but here I sit still today with a broken radio. Please thoroughly check the radio so you can exercise your return through HRO if needed. My radio also lose...

Did this get resolved? I'm having a similar problem with brand new 7000DLE, on 6m only. Max power output is 37 Watts.

Re: Transmit Drive Power
My previous result has been confirmed with a DAIWA CN-901 SWR & Power meter. It shows the same as the Anan's internal meter: Max power on 6 meters into a dummy load is about 37 Watts which is realized at a PA Gain in Thetis PA Settings of 48.5. Any PA Gain lower than that and the transmitter shu...

Re: Transmit Drive Power
Into a dummy load rated 100 w from DC to 50 ghz 50 ohms (using internal meter, I don’t have an external RF power meter yet . . . it’s on the way) On 6 m I get zero forward power at any PA gain below 48. At 48.3 I get 36 watts and that’s the max. Below that it quickly drops to zero. This behaviour is...

Is Bootloader working OK for people who are running Windows 11?
For those interested: HPSDRBootloader v. 2.0.4.4 doesn't work on my Windows 11(Pro Version 21H2 build 22000.1098) computer, Although I run it as Administrator, when I click "Test for Bootloader" I get the message "Error: cannot open interface (are you running as root)." In my cas...

Re: Brand new 7000DLE
As a developer you'd be ideally suited to build Bootloader from source and see what's broken for you ;) Not a bad idea. The first thing that has to go from the Windows build is the reference to "root." I'll put that in my queue. I would like to contribute to the community. Meanwhile, plea...

Re: Brand new 7000DLE
People don't usually report normal behavior. So they report abnormal behaviour, as I've done. It would be useful to hear from anyone else who has (or will) attempt to use HPSDRBootloader with the latest build of Windows 11. I wouldn't be surprised if many hams don't keep up with the latest releases...

Not yet. To be honest, I thought I could buy a radio, erect an antenna, install software, and it would all work without an array of external test instruments. But I now know better, and they're on the way.

It is all but impossible to get accurate readings with the internal watt meter until you follow the steps in the calibration instructions in the video posted earlier.

Re: Transmit Drive Power
Yes, without an external meter there's no way to know if it's the transmitter or the internal meter (or both!) that are messed up, either by simple calibration or actually hard broke. And it's easy to understand that at this point you have absolutely no confidence in the unit because you have no wa...

Re: Transmit Drive Power
I don't have an external power meter at this moment. I ordered one but it won't arrive for another week at least. By then my 10 day return window will have closed I am relying on the internal power meter which suggests my power output is 24 watts and that my load is good because there is 0 watts ref...

Re: Transmit Drive Power
My first problem is that when tuning, the power meter is showing a maximum of about 24 watts with 1.1:1 SWR. I can't believe that the internal power meter could be so far off, ouT of the box, that it would be showing 24 watts when I'm actually getting the advertised 100. Before I start changing firm...

That can't be correct if you have a 7000.
Update Thetis to 2.9.0.6. Then look at what 2.9.0.6 reports for firmware. Also, the hardware needs to be powered up and Thetis needs to be connected to get the right answer.
You're right.
