Re: G2 Software and Firmware Updates 27 Aug 2023
We are in the process of changing the firmware, p2app and piHPSDR to work with enlarged FIFO buffers in the FPGA. Debug code has identified that we were stalling the software waiting for a speaker FIFO to empty. Hopefully a combination of enlarged buffers and a different way for the software to tra...

Re: Mic input issues on G2 with display panel
Bob -- that does beg the question, have you tried operating into a dummy load? This would help narrow the RFI problem. If this works then it's probably a conventional, radiated RFI problem. If the dummy load does not work, then it's either a conducted RFI problem or a problem internal to the G2. Hi...

Re: Mic input issues on G2 with display panel
I have never been able to get the XLR 1/4" connector to work. I use mix 31 and have a good ground. I have tried running a ground to the shield of the connector and that didn't make it work either. I have used a Neumann 103 with a tube preamp and also a MXL BCD-1 direct to the XLR jack with the...

Re: Mic input issues on G2 with display panel
I'm using a shielded XLR cable for the MXL BD-1 dynamic studio mic for VAC, and the condenser mic on the front panel TRS input is a D-104 with supplied cable and shielded TRS plug. Both mic cables have multiple ferrites. AudioBox GO is connected to the i7 via usb cable with ferrites.

Re: Mic input issues on G2 with display panel
Hi Scott. Thanks for that information. I have tried using the Presonus alone using the mic XLR input and headphone output and that seems to work normally with clean and full audio. The only software I'm using for the Presonus is the Asio drivers for the Win 11 I/O. I agree that this sounds like an R...

Re: Mic input issues on G2 with display panel
Thanks Scott. I appreciate your input. -- Bob - Ki1n I have made numerous attempts to use a balanced input dynamic mic using VAC and a Presonus Audiobox GO, but cannot raise the input level without causing some type of "runaway" screeching or oscillation. I can only achieve about 5 watts ...

@laurence: tnx for background info! Using the Armbian environment made an image on basis of arm64 architecture and kernel 6.5, but with just enough in the OS to let pihpsdr show its GUI. So basically just cli plus X11 and Openbox Have patched 'your' xdma driver into it and for now called it xdma2 a...

Good morning Scott.
Understood, thanks. I suppose another workaround might be to employ audio input hardware or software to the PC and use VAC, right?

Thank you for that valuable information. That certainly helps address my confusion!
Have you any thoughts on when and if Apache might address the balanced input issue?

Mic input issues on G2 with display panel
I am hoping for suggestions on how to address the following issues with my New G2 with front display. • Using PTT to key up on LSB, others have noticed an initial carrier that diminishes gradually during the first 2-3 seconds of each transmission. The dynamic MXL DB-1 mic is connected to the front p...

Re: rec audio clicking/chopping on peaks
Bob, Are you using Thetis or PiHPSDR at these sampling rates? there is no issue whatsoever running Thetis at any sampling rate. If you are getting artifacts on Thetis it is most likely a localized network/PC issue. Tony Hi Tony. Thanks for your note. Yes, I am running Thetis v2.10.1 on an i7 NUC 4....

Re: rec audio clicking/chopping on peaks
The codec is connected to the FPGA; it receives (and generates) samples at 48KHz synchronously to the ADC & DAC. Audio samples are transferred via the Raspberry pi, but it is not interfaced to the operating system so you cannot send WAV files to it. That's why you see no audio device listed. Wh...

G2 stuttering on RX and TX
I have been dealing with stuttering and breakup issues since receiving the G2 and using Thetis 2.10.1 with an i7NUC directly connected to the Anan. On a G2 using Thetis Ps, I’m getting intermittent audio breakup on SSB that does not seem related to mics or connections. Any thoughts on settings that might cause this behavior? FYI, I was told by Anan that the G2 has the front mike input wiring reversed with Tip audio ground and ring mic input. Rear mic plug is wired normally with tip mic input and ring audio ground. XLR is inoperative. Once I abandoned trying to use the XLR inputs I was able to wire and profile mics for e...

Intermittent drop-outs on transmission with Thetis driving G2

Re: Mic input issues on G2 knobber. RESOLVED

Here is the breakthrough—using the PTT switch solved the problem. Appare...

Re: PTT in/out rear panel connection - Still no joy.
Exploring the PTT IN/OUT further, I remain confused about the wiring to the amp. The PTT OUT takes TIP to Ground on Xmit, and provides 8vdc on RX. The RING is taken to GROUND on both RX and TX. This is using PTT on the front panel mic input. Any thoughts on how I can access a PTT OUT that is OPEN on...
