Re: Anan 7000 and mercury hookup
Here is what I see with an Anan 8000dle into a Mercury LUX. AmpView is of a two tone signal at 1500W. I'm going to try modifying the delays like the other poster mentioned as Pure Signal seems to get confused initially when the system is keyed. I hope it's okay to just extend the present (old ...

Re: Anan 7000 and mercury hookup
I know this is an ancient thread, but since it might be referenced for information regarding the use of Mercury amps with an Anan radio, in my limited experience the beluga whale shape happens when transmitting into a non-optimal SWR.

Re: Odd AmpView
Here's a related question regarding the use of two tone for tuning: Is it possible to key two tone using a foot pedal or other switch instead of using a mouse and the menu button? Sometimes one is reaching to tune an amp and using the mouse isn't convenient.

8000dle idle (quiescent) current keyed no drive
I'm hoping someone can provide a lead on the 8000dle idle (quiescent) current when keyed but with no drive. I ask as I need to adjust the bias of a Collins 30S-1 amplifier that I'm using after the 8000dle. When a Collins KWM-2 is used as the exciter, the KWM-2 idle current is 40-50 mA and the 30S-1 ...

Re: Odd AmpView
The information in this thread has been really useful to me as I refine usage of PS.
Thanks very much, Scott, for responding to my question.
I have yet to hear the song of our people though.

Re: Odd AmpView
I know this is an old thread, but what is the best signal to use for tuning loading of the amp for maximum linearity with AmpView as shown in the second image of the last post? Two tone?
Thanks,

Re: high power amateur station down the road wiping out 40m band
Here's an update. As noted here by ea3aqr and also noted by someone who responded to a thread on this subject I created elsewhere, the use of noise blanker (NB, NB2) with very strong signals leads to artifacts that wipe out the band. The very strong, dirty signal still remains after turning off ...

Re: high power amateur station down the road wiping out 40m band
I definitely have NB on. The video is from a few days back. I saw your comment above about NB, and I'm looking forward to turning it off the next time the interference happens. It can be a daily event, but not always.

Re: high power amateur station down the road wiping out 40m band
Assuming I've identified the station correctly, and I have no reason to doubt that, the choices are either a Yaesu 991A into a Tentec Centurion or a Kenwood TS-440S into an Ameritron AL-811H.w-u-2-o wrote:I wonder what sort of radio and amplifier that station uses.

Re: high power amateur station down the road wiping out 40m band
It's hard to tell from still images what's being done to the band dynamics by the one signal. Accordingly, below is a link to a .mov video file looking at the other side of the signal relative to the images above. In the video the red line furthest to the right is the end of 40m band, about 75kHz ...

Re: high power amateur station down the road wiping out 40m band
I'm not familiar with that video. Perhaps you could post a link? I suspect whatever Flex is discussing it's not relevant to this problem. Co-channel is co-channel and, if it is bad enough, will cause small signal suppression and non-linearities in nearby receivers.
Here's the video, in particular ...

Re: high power amateur station down the road wiping out 40m band
Classic co-channel interference. There's not a lot to be done about it. Cranking some step attenuator in on receive will help a little, but at the expense of weaker signal reception.
Thanks, this is what I was thinking in terms of interference. I wanted to see what others thought though. I will ...

high power amateur station down the road wiping out 40m band
I'd like to ask for advice and possible solutions with regard to a problem that came up over the past few weeks. There is a 1.5kW station not that far down the road from me that operates on a frequency in the 40m about 45 kHz up from me regularly. His signal is causing artifacts across the entire ...

Re: pure signal w/8000 dle and Alpha 91b
Not seeing anything wrong. I recommend that the MAP option be unchecked unless it is absolutely necessary for the amp behavior.
It would be safer to use the VK Amps coupler. Any time an adjustable coupler is used there is a danger that damaging levels might be accidentally achieved.

Of course I do the critical troubleshooting control right after sending a help request:

step attenuator not functioning per S-ATT
I was able to diminish the effects of the EBS on the Alpha 91b by increasing the value of C56, increasing the time constant. This has allowed pure signal to give a better result.
A significant separate problem I'm seeing is that the step attenuator is not outwardly functioning based on what S-ATT ...

pure signal w/8000 dle and Alpha 91b
I'm trying to get pure signal functioning using Thetis, an 8000 die and an Alpha 91b with 1500W output using the -55 db RF sampler from VK-amps. To date pure signal increases IMD when routing the signal after the Alpha 91b from the RF sampler into the 8000 die pure signal input port. In contrast ...
