Re: Changing Windows 10 Network Throttling Index for Better Performance
This worked great for me: Apache 10E + latest Win10, running VAC without resampling, FT8, monitoring RF output waveform on an oscilloscope: Prior to changing the throttling index I was seeing roughly 2 glitches (more or less) in each 15 second FT8 transmission period. Each glitch appears as a 5.3 mi...

Re: Noise Burst on initial transmit
Why not place a relay between the microphone and the preamplifier/sound card, so that the microphone is disconnected when receiving? Use the PTT output of the ANAN (the same output as is used to key an external RF amplifier on) to activate the relay between the microphone and the preamplifier sound ...

Re: Anan 10 Transmit Problem
Jon The symptoms suggest that excessive RF is getting into your computer via (for example) the USB connections, or various audio cables, or the AC wiring. I suggest that you try using various methods to block the RF... like installing ferrite cores on cables that run between the ANAN and the compute...

Thanks for the new update most of the problems on my Anan 10e have now been solved. But i still have a pure signal issue if i run pure signal with dup on in protocol 1 pure signal seems to be working but the pan adapter freezes on transmit and returns when in rx i still don't know if this is just a...

Re: Anyone ever run Pure Signal with a non-linear amplifier? Say a class C?
An RF amplifier biased close to cutoff (just above cutoff) will still have a fairly linear relationship between the amplitude of the input envelope and the amplitude of the output envelope. Therefore it is no surprise that Pure Signal will work essentially the same as it does with a typical “linear”...

Re: When PowerSDR won't start or exhibits bizarre behavior (database reset/removal)
Scott When I used the approach of deleting the whole folder, and then starting the SDR application, the application recalculated all of the real and complex FFT’s. That process took about 10 minutes on my computer. When I used the approach of just deleting/replacing the “database” file, I avoided th...

An additional thing to try... that is less time consuming than deleting the entire PowerSDR mRX PS folder... in situations where the PowerSDR mRX application will not open (i.e. where you can't access the database reset function): 1, Open the PowerSDR mRX PS folder located at C:\Users\username\AppDa...

ANAN-10E: rubber feet melting
Hi! I have an ANAN-10E that I have been using for several years. It is standing on one side... with the white bottom cover label facing forward. I have a small fan blowing air over the heat sink. This morning I noticed that the 4 gray rubber feet that came with the unit are melting. If I touch one, ...

Re: Panadapter level reading when using "tune"
Based on the behavior that I am observing... I suspect that the step attenuator's actual value (independent of the S-ATT setting shown on the GUI) is being set to 31dB when you first select tune mode. Then, when you change the S-ATT setting (while still in tune mode), the step attenuator 's actual v...

Walter Thanks... that works! While in "tune" mode... I changed the S-ATT setting from 19dB to 20dB... and the panadapter reading changed from about 10dB too low to the correct reading. Yes... if I cycle tune off and back on... then the panadapter reading returns to about 10dB too low. Inte...

Panadapter level reading when using "tune"
Just a reminder of a problem that first came up several HPSDR releases ago... and still remains in release 3.4.9. I am using an ANAN-10E, but I believe this problem exists on other models as well. In "tune mode" (but not in other modes such as two tone, or normal transmit operation), with ...

If you turn the 10XXX over you can tell if it is a 10E or not. A 10E has a small slide switch in the center of the bottom cover. The 10 does not.

Conrad Since A) You see no amplude modulation when using WSJT in tune mode ... with a given nominal frequency (e.g. 500 Hz)... but you see a variation in the RF output when you change the nominal frequency. B) You have looked directly at the audio output of your sound card (digital audio interface),...

Rob Yes... doing this measurement with an auxiliary receiver in the same location as one's transceiver/amplifier is much more complicated than it appeared to be when we first thought about it. Even with the relatively low internal crosstalk levels in the more recent ANAN-XXX products, I remain skept...

Rob Scott Thinking about this some more.... The power leaving the transceiver is only around 13dB less than the power leaving the external amplifier. With a dummy load attached to the external amplifier (and with the amplifier input being equivalent to a dummy load at the output of the transceiver)....

Assuming that the software being employed with the RSP1 allows one to increase the averaging time... shouldn't one be able to significantly reduce the effect of phase noise in the panadapter display produced in the 2-tone test by increasing the averaging time to a much larger value?

Rob The 2-tone spectrum looks reasonably clean on the RSP1 display... but it is difficult to confirm that the IMD products are more than 40dB below the principal tones. I.e. -53dm - (-93dBm). On the SSB displays... its appears (with some interpretation to ignore the 2nd peak on the RSP1 display) tha...

Re: Accuracy re fidelity on/with the TX display while using PS
One of the things that could cause a disparity between the DUP display and the actual RF output spectrum of the amplifier is non-linearity being introduced by the the coupler. I.e. if the output of the coupler's sampling port is not linearly proportional to the RF output of the amplifier* Therefore,...
