Re: Thetis v2.8.11 - UPDATES and current issues
DirectX error message Thetis 21k9RC2-b has been running fine for a couple of days but this came up this morning after leaving it running overnight. The panadapter and waterfall are blank but otherwise Thetis seems active. Screenshots of DirectX error attached. I had to use Task Manager to shut down ...

Re: XVTR TX output active when using 28MHz
Thanks Scott- you are exactly right about this! I should have checked the schematic first. For now I'll just make sure to turn the transverter/PA OFF when I'm on HF. I have several small small relays which should be suitable to switch out the XVTR TX line . I'm using most of the OC controls but thin...

XVTR TX output active when using 28MHz
I recently changed my 28/144 MHz transverter installation so that it could be left permanently on in periods when I am switching between HF/VHF activity. This is mainly to help with frequency stability in the transverter but also for convenience. I was very surprised to notice RF out on 144MHz when ...

Re: Strong Birdies in 75/80M
On my 200D I do not see any of these spurs with a dummy load in place. There are no spurious emissions at all that I can see in this range. Peaks of that size are more likely to come externally rather than from the rig. Or possibly a fault in the rig?

Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
Linked to PA gain profiles idea: It would be great to have the ability to limit PA output (per band or across all bands). This is to avoid accidental overdrive of solid state amps which (like mine) require less than 10W to drive. On many occasions I forget to reset the drive level after using 50W or...

Hi Juha
If you go to the Transmit tab in Setup you'll see' Monitor TX AF'. Set this value to the volume which suits you for CW sidetone. I use 6, but yours might be different.

Re: Thetis 2.8.11-21+++ VAC advanced controls: results and discussion
I also have instability problems with my VAC and the re-sampler which have been present for all versions of Thetis/firmware over the years. Of interest, I also use SDR Console software with my 200D. Although this lacks many of the ANAN refinements present in Thetis, one of the big advantages for me ...

Hi Rick Just some quick feedback on 1.9.17. I have no RX signal on any band and when I try to TX I get sequence errors and erratic RF. When tuning across the band I see strange artefacts and some signals but ONLY when tuning. After a few minutes Thetis crashes. So, not so good on my 200D compared wi...

Re: New 200D Orion Protocol 2 Firmware Topic
Hi Phil I'm not sure if this is relevant for your problem but I had a strange fault a few years ago with my 200D which I eventually traced to a bad PCB joint on the front panel LAN ethernet socket. Most likely this was caused by side-strain on the socket since my ethernet cable was a bit short (repl...

Re: New 200D Orion Protocol 2 Firmware Topic
It's very unlikely anything is being "corrupted". However, this could very well be a thermally related issue. Would you check to see if things work well with a cold rig and only go awry once the hardware has heated up a bit? I tried with a cold rig using 1.9.16. PS was good on all bands. ...

Re: New 200D Orion Protocol 2 Firmware Topic
Hi
Sorry, typo that should be firmware 1.9.15 and NOT 1.9.16 that I used. I'm using the older Rev 16 PA board in my 200D. PS worked with my previous 1.9 pre4 firmware on all bands but sometimes was slow to 'lock' on to correction but once locked it was stable.

MNF notch filter does not work on VHF (with 28MHz transverter)
MNF works nicely on HF but on 2m and 4m (with 28MHz transverters) it is not possible to add a filter. Clicking on +MNF does not give a response.
Just another (minor) bug to add to the list.

70MHz transverter 'Out of Band' message appears at first set-up of XVTR. It is corrected by re-selecting region in the General settings and re-starting Thetis. Just a small bug to add to the list.

Re: Transmit oddity
I've seen this or similar bad TX profile on DUP many times over the years on my 200D when using FT8 TX. For me, this has often been associated with unstable VAC with over/underflows running away on the resampler. Either a reset of the VAC (using Voicemeeter here) or a re-start usually clears this up...

Re: ANAN200D problem
Hi Patrick If it is not firmware or Thetis then maybe you could look at your PSU to check that the voltage is correct and that power cable connections to the rig are not limiting current on TX. Check your current at 100 drive if you have a meter on your PSU. I see 16A on 20m to give 100W out with a ...

Re: ANAN200D problem
Hi Patrick
I have had this happen on my 200D before. If you haven't done so already it is best to update to the latest Thetis (v 2.8.11) and firmware (Orion v 1.9). Possibly you may need to reset the gains in PA Settings tab to give the correct power output on each band.

Hi Jeff Yes, I have observed exactly the same as you when setting up my transverters. Very confusing initially when I was adjusting the VHF PA gain settings. Re: XVTR TX OUT 28MHz signal purity?
Hi Volker Now I have done some IMD measurements. On the Ukrainian XVTR the best I see is IM3 -30dBc, IM5 -38, IM7 -47 at gain=50. This is at 1-1.5W out, which is what I need to drive my 70MHz PA. Actually there was little difference in IMD with the 200D gain settings over 40 to 70 range at 1W from t...

Re: XVTR TX OUT 28MHz signal purity?
Thanks Volker Yes, you are right the VHF gain does directly effect the XVTR signal- I should have realised this! For HF we adjust gain to correct the power output (to 100 drive=100W normally) but what do we adjust gain for at VHF? I can't find any information. I can see the effect on XVTR power out ...

XVTR TX OUT 28MHz signal purity?
28_70 MHz Transverter output spectrum.JPG 200D XVTR TX 28 MHz spectrum.JPG I noticed some unusual peaks in my 28/70 MHz transverter TX output. As well as the main 70MHz peak I also see peaks at 14, 28, 42, 56 and 84 MHz from the transverter- some at -25dB down from the main peak (picture attached)....
