Re: Thetis starting with standard frequency
IMO whenever anyone observes a peculiar behavior crop up in Thetis that no one else is seeing, after it becomes apparent that reasonable steps to fix the problem aren't working then the next step should be to rename the database (effectively equivalent to deleting/resetting it) and restart Thetis to...

I'd make sure to verify that the signal generator in that thing is capable of outputting a sufficient dBm power level that will suit Juha's needs.

If you invoke Thetis in Administrator mode, Thetis is capable of setting the NetworkThrottlingIndex tweak automatically. See Settings>General>H/W Select>Network Settings>Network Throttle Index Tweak.

It's high time someone besides Apache Labs offered that feature. Rob Sherwood himself has made multiple comments over the past couple of years that none of the Big Three have appeared to show much interest in cleaning up their TX act, they're seemingly all obsessed with RX bragging rights. Speaking ...

Thanks for that link, Ernst. Simon Brown has had a virtually identical AI NR option imbedded in the most recent Beta builds of his SDR Console. Unfortunately, IMO both versions I've seen in operation (Simon's and the online version in Kurt's video) introduce some serious latency into the final audio...

Re: Severe problem with PureSignal
So I finally got a block of free time this weekend and pulled the rig apart, swapped a couple of cables (probably not related to PS), checked all connections for tight and buttoned everything back together and fired it up. No difference in PS behavior on 20 meters. Even tried a brand new i9-13980HX ...

Re: Severe problem with PureSignal
Yup, gonna do that next. I was even thinking I might swap a few of the internal jumper cables' respective positions (if cable length allows), that way if any cable is bad then something else in the rig's operation would likely also change (besides PS).

Re: Severe problem with PureSignal
Looking at my latest screenshots, I see no differences between the Cantenna and the 989D dummy load and the wire dipole, nor between the lo-res and hi-res graphs.
So I think we can eliminate all of the above (loads and graph resolution) as issues.

Re: Severe problem with PureSignal
Here are some shots of 20 meters at 25 and 41 watts into the Cantenna, the internal 300W dummy load in my 989D tuner and a tuned wire dipole. Some are low-res and some are hi-res. A fresh 4-foot LMR-240 cable was installed going to the Cantenna. A 12-inch LMR-240 cable runs from the 7000 to the AL-8...

Yes sir, my NR2 settings are Pre-AGC and Gamma. The rumble I typically hear is distinct, not subtle or subdued. Kinda like a waterfall, but not so loud that you're standing close enough to get wet. :) I did notice that when I was adjusting the low-cut point on RX audio per your suggestion there was ...

Re: Severe problem with PureSignal
So on 20 meters there does appear to be some slight differences between P1 and early P2 and the latest P2 in the range of 33 watts drive, but notwithstanding that I'm not seeing enough difference to make an argument that firmware is the problem in any case. 20 meters is broken at any power level, on...

Re: Severe problem with PureSignal
At this point I can only suggest that you try to downgrade to P1 firmware and see if the problem continues. If it does, then we can rule out any firmware issues as well. I'd also like to see you try using two-tone to make these measurements. Try two tone on 20M with both P2 and P1 firmware. Here ar...

Re: Rumbling audio,,,,again
Trucker,
The rumbling originates somewhere in software, it isn't caused by the speakers or jacks. The rumble is only present when first pulling up a Thetis session. As soon as I click on any active QSO the rumble disappears and never returns.

The rear speaker jacks are tricky, I use a pair of screw terminal plugs to connect a line-out converter that reduces the output power to line-level that's then fed into my MOTU M4 that feeds a pair of powered speakers through VM Potato. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07M63JNF3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_se...

Scott,
I'll try that this evening, thanks. With that said, please be aware that I don't normally use VAC for receive, I'm usually listening to the 1/4" speaker jacks on the rear panel of the 7000DLE MKII (of course I can enable VAC for RX).

I'm running Protocol 2 v2.1.18 for the early 7000DLE MKII. Currently running Richie's Thetis v2.10.1 but I've tried a number of early and late versions of Thetis from both Richie and Steve, with no difference in PS behavior between any of them, on any band.

There is no software, firmware or network tweak that can fix RF crosstalk. If changes to network parameters fixed a problem all it fixed was bad or missing UDP packets. That's not crosstalk.
