Re: Sennheiser 835S
That's a great looking mic, Simon! Dynamic, so no fuss, no muss with phantom/bias supplies. Did you use anything special to do the balanced to unbalanced connection, or just make up a cable that bonds the audio "-" lead to ground? This is my current favorite microphone, a Behringer B1 larg...

Re: Operating amplfiers in digital modes
That's very interesting, Stu, thanks for posting that! I wonder, because of the way that openHPSDR architecture radios (i.e. every Apache Labs radio) adjusts RF drive, setting the RF power to 100W and then adjusting drive with the audio level might not be a good method. This is because the gain afte...

Can you fix the problem by creating a fresh MIDI settings file, just like you did with the database.xml file?

Re: Using HF preselector?
Buck, No problems per se. However, you'll take a 3dB sensitivity hit using a power divider ("splitter"). You may or may not want to do that. A switch would solve that problem. Also, just be very careful to program it up right in Setup > General > Ant/Filters > Antenna. You don't want to ac...

Re: New current protocol (Protocol 1) firmware for ANAN-100D version 5.8 released
Dan, This is not the new protocol firmware, this is current (old) protocol firmware. As such it works with PowerSDR mRX and not Thetis. The major changes are that a) it has been compiled in a new version of Quartus (the Altera development environment), and b) has the other improvements and bug fixes...

Re: Anan 200d - no RX output VAC
Chris, Have you made sure that all of the Windows devices that are instantiated by VAC are set to 48KHz and, if available, stereo? Go into the Windows Sound Control Panel and check the advanced settings of each VAC device. One thing you can try is a total database delete on PowerSDR. Go to C:\Users\...

Re: Diversity Operations
Good idea, Bill! I will make this thread a "sticky". Here's what I've posted in the past, perhaps it will be of help... Diversity can only be achieved using radios that have two separate ADCs. Currently this would be the 100D, 200D and 8000. In order to achieve any kind of non-coherent div...

Re: Anan 200d - no RX output VAC
Chris, If you are seeing good spectral and waterfall data during receive then it's not a relay problem. If the transmit side of the VAC link is working, then it's probably not a driver problem, something that has been effected by Windows updates in the past. What versions of VAC, PowerSDR, VB Cable,...

Re: Using HF preselector?
Hi Buck, I built one for my 100D. Honestly, I see no improvement, but I live out in the country, with no ham neighbors close by, and no giant broadcast stations nearby either. Since I was building something that would house my external RF switch and provide opto-isolated PTT outputs, and since the e...

Second hand report, as I don't have an 8000, however a ham friend of mine has been unable to run continuous two-tone tests at 200W with his Astron RM-50. Could it be low voltage from the supply or loss in the power cables, I don't know. You would think an RM-50 is sufficient, it is rated at 37A cont...

Re: Thetis performance reports?
Phil, You have to appreciate that the firmware is early beta, at best. Therefore there will be many problems. The biggest challenge currently appears to be obtaining a build that makes timing reliably on everyone's hardware. Right now you could probably put the same firmware on three different radio...

Re: OpenHPSDR-PowerSDR mRX PS with DXLab Commander using VSPE
Chris,
What model radios did you use in the settings? I run the DXLabs suite, and in PowerSDR I have it identifying as "PowerSDR", and in Commander I am using "SDR-5000" as the radio model type. This seems to work quite well.
Thanks,
Scott

John, I think you mean Angelia_NP_11.5.rbf for the firmware, correct? If your radio runs OK with the firmware, then Thetis is working quite well. You can try running higher sample rates with PureSignal. There is also the new wideband display (Alex needs to be off/manual), the Path Indicator display,...

Re: Rumors of new firmware...
Ok, I understand. I do the same thing when using RX2 in a way that conflicts with Alex filter assignments. It could be either a software or firmware issue. The source of the problem could be identified by doing a Wireshark trace showing what the software is telling the firmware when the various chan...

Re: Hercules labels
I use a P-Touch labeler with tape that prints white lettering on black tape. Then I use a sharp scissor, X-acto knife, a steady hand and a lot of patience. Labels go on top of buttons or over other legends on the front panel. I'll also put plain black tape over legends I don't want visible. 73, Scott

It's a last resort, certainly, but, sadly, not as much of a hail Mary as you might think.
It would be really good if someone else could duplicate this behavior on their 100B.
Dumb question: what it the motivation for running with ALEX off?
Thanks,
Scott

I remember you reporting this issue previously. However nobody else is reporting this issue (yet). It is possible that it is a hardware issue with your radio. Have you tried reloading the firmware?
