Even though I have a nice audio setup with my 8000DLE, I have had the itch to make some changes. I have been using a Universal Audio Volt 1 interface and a nice set of Tannoy Reveal 501A powered studio monitors. They worked very well. A couple of weeks ago Guitar Center had the Focusrite Scarlett Solo on sale at a good price. So, being a bit crazy, I bought one. It was easy to install and make the changes in Windows 11 for cmASIO to use the Scarlett's drivers. I felt like the audio was a bit better. Not earth shattering, but a bit smoother. I like the way that the driver displays it's settings as Windows boots up. Every so often Guitar Center puts the JBL 305 MKII powered studio monitors on sale. Today was the last day they were on sale at the Guitar Center near me. I was across the street eating lunch at a local mom and pop restaurant and I remembered that the JBL's were on sale and today was supposed to be the last day of the sale. After lunch I went to Guitar Center and bought a pair of the 305's. I hooked them up earlier and they really do sound good. I cannot say that they are a lot better than the Tannoy speakers. But, they certainly do sound great.

New speakers and audio interface
Re: New speakers and audio interface
I've never been a fan of the Focusrite stuff. I don't think their drivers are as good as some others. But I am absolutely a JBL guy, through and through! I now own a pair of 305s and a pair of 308s. All I need now is a subwoofer

It certainly is!

I've used a Focusrite Scarlett for years, and it worked well with my Mac without any issues. I was able to make it work with cmASIO, but the drivers made it unreliable and unpredictable. Consequently, I switched to a Behringer UMC204HD, and its drivers have been excellent—rock solid with no issues.

This is the Generation 3 Scarlett Solo. So far, the drivers have been rock solid with no hiccups that I can detect. When Windows 11 boots up there is a pop-up box that appears showing the settings for the Scarlett. It matches the registry entries that I made for cmASIO.
As I said, the difference between this setup ( Scarlett Solo and JBL 305's) compared to the Universal Audio Volt 1 and the Tannoy Reveal 501A speakers isn't earth shattering. But,it does seem to be slightly better. Either setup would be fine. I just got the uncontrollable urge to spend some money. And this is much cheaper than buying a new G2 Saturn Ultra! Which for whatever crazy reason I keep thinking about even though I have a very well behaved 8000DLE.
Maybe I am going senile in my old age!

Re: New speakers and audio interface
I need to make a correction, the Focusrite Scarlett Solo is a generation 4 version. So far it has continued to work fine.

I'm another fan of the JBL 308 speakers.
I use them in my shack (mostly for music as I use headphones for contesting) I've been really impressed with the sound quality.
