Hi,
I'm using this microphone with the 10E and 8000DLE.
Getting very good reports, this is a superb microphone. Don't be fooled by super-duper microphones costing many $$$ with enhanced communications quality audio. We can mangle audio in the DSP - but first start with a good input source.
The S version has a good, silent on/off switch.

Re: Sennheiser 835S
That's a great looking mic, Simon! Dynamic, so no fuss, no muss with phantom/bias supplies. Did you use anything special to do the balanced to unbalanced connection, or just make up a cable that bonds the audio "-" lead to ground?
This is my current favorite microphone, a Behringer B1 large format condenser. Ruler flat response. Pretty sensitive. Also $99 like the Sennheiser. But I don't recommend running the B1 with the relatively low bias voltage that comes out of the radio. You will need to blow another $20 on a 48V phantom power supply. So it's a bit of extra complexity compared to the Sennheiser.
$99 street price gets you the whole kit, including the windscreen and shock mount.

Re: Sennheiser 835S
Simon,
I had a chance to play around with an 835S and found it to be exceptionally smooth and crisp for vocal work. Of course I plugged it into my TX audio rack and noticed right away that it did not have the usual boomy proximity effects when you moved in close. It's very nice for ham radio work because of the nice presence rise curve that starts in the mid-2K range.

Re: Sennheiser 835S
I do get excellent unsolicited audio reports, so I am sticking with this microphone.
I'll try to get a SDR recording from a remote location so you can hear it. Note that I'm not using PowerSDR, rather my own software with speech compression / noise gate.

Just bought Sennheiser E835 in Melbourne today after testing it along Shure SM58 and 2 other local brands.
It was the best sounding mic.
Would put it to test with my Anan 8KDLE when I reach back home in India on 28th.

I have no doubt you'll like it - I have a scratchy on-air recording of my signal with the E835S / 8000 / SDR Console and it sounds good - like a human being.
Another microphone I would like but will not buy is the RODE NT1-A Condenser Microphone https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cardioid-Condenser-Microphone-Detachable-Filter/dp/B0002PSCQM/ref=s9u_simh_gw_i1?_encoding=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pd_rd_i=B0002PSCQM&pd_rd_r=KS8Q70CC1TRVFW3R0KT1&pd_rd_w=lfD73&pd_rd_wg=PYgQE&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=9Q873FDPF9J70V0XEK7V&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=35757d1b-908a-4848-9317-e6dd1ce44117&pf_rd_i=desktop .

Hi Simon
When you installed your 835s did you have to move any links inside the radio ?.
I have an Anan 100 and cant get it to work correctly, on transmit all the time.

Hi,
I switched from a 1/4" mono to a 1/4" stereo connector on the ANAN 8000, audio on the tip.

Re: Sennheiser 835S
Hello Everyone,
Thought I would let you know I have fixed the issue with my Anan 100 going in to TX all the time after installing Sennheiser 835.
There was no issue with the microphone at all and the problem lay in a bad connection in the mic socket on the front of the Anan 100, will need to replace the socket at some stage I guess.
