Anan 8000 DLE: Delay in Transmit Thetis v2.9.0

Postby N4KMG » Mon Aug 08, 2022 11:23 pm

Good Evening,

I am the new owner of an Anan 8000 DLE. I am noticing a 1-2 second delay when transmitting on the Thetis v2.9.0 SDR software. Is there are setting to correct this delay? I cannot locate it in the manual or forums. Thank you and 73 de N4KMG

100 to 200 milliseconds is normal. I don't think there is any way to intentionally cause a 1 to 2 second delay even if you wanted to.

Please provide more detail on what exactly you are observing/experiencing.

Thank you. Yes when I press the MOX button on the sotware, it keys the 8000 DLE immediately. However, when I key with my Heil hand trigger through the PTT on the rear, it takes a good 1.5 or two seconds to key the 8000 DLE

This question is going to seem non-relevant, but because the rear panel PTT line is connected to the PTT pin on the front panel mic input it might be important: what do you have connected to the front panel mic input and exactly how is it wired?

Thank you for your continued support. I do not have any connection to the front of the radio. Julius W2IHY constructed my cable and it connects to the rear mic input and PTT input. I use a Heil hand switch. This may not help but I am unsure how it is wired to be honest.

I am going to blame it on the hand switch. I had one of those that if I squeezed it normally it would not key but if I gave it a death grip then it would work. Easy enough to test by shorting the plug and see how quickly it keys.

If I understand you correctly, there are two connections, and one of them is to the PTT IN RCA jack. If that is correct then please try the following experiment: unplug the mic connector and see if it keys with no delay using the hand switch.

If that is not correct then please post a photo of how it is wired.

Thank you all for the help. It was user error. I had one of my pieces of audio gear way too hot on the output. The 8000 is perfect now :)
