I wanted to revisit an old topic that had many excellent posts regarding Advanced VAC Controls/Parameter, I believe assuming using Thetis v2.8.11-21+++ , but would someone answer my questions below. Apologies if I missed posts in that (other) thread that provided answers.
1. On the Audio/VAC1 form, what are the Pros & Cons of having the "Force" box checked vs unchecked FROM VAC (Out) and TO VAC (In)?
2. On the Audio/ Advanced form where it says "On VAC Enable Use" for both IN and OUT ("Old VAR"), what are the Pros & Cons of checking/unchecking the Old VAR boxes?
Playing with settings that Mark is using again. Thanks Mark .
Not using Voicemeeter, but 2 USB/Audio interfaces from different manufacturers for audio (yup, not a very elegant solution, being a "brute force" scheme) so that I can have 2 instantiations of ASIO. One day, I suppose I should take the bull by the horns and learn to use Voicemeeter !
See image below, showing "stability" (been monitoring only for less than 30 minutes). NO under/overflows, but less than 30 minutes of monitoring isn't very telling I would imagine.
Can someone remind me again how I should interpret both the yellow line and the red graphs? Shouldn't both the yellow lines be very close to the red graphs, indicating a much more stable state?

P.S. Upgraded P2 firmware to v.2.2.2 (much better than v.2.2.1 at least based on the absence of audio drop-outs on receive) this morning. Still using Thetis v2.10.4.3 x64.

If you are using a USB sound card interface for audio in and out, ( microphone and powered speakers) then you don't need VAC at all unless you are also wanting to use Digital modes as well.
If you are using the interface as mentioned, uncheck use VAC as it's not necessary. Make the necessary changes to the Registry to use your sound card's ASIO driver in Windows to use cmASIO. There is a long thread in this forum for cmASIO. There is a lot of good information there.

Re: Thetis v.2.10.3.4 x64 - Advanced VAC Controls
James,
Thanks for flagging this. I have used VAC as most of my audio processing is done on the same PC that Thetis runs on, in a Digital Audio Workstation, DAW.
I believe that the Thetis version that I run doesn't provide cmASIO capabilities so I would need to upgrade to the latest Thetis version too. I don't want to mess with any more upgrades now though as I am getting ready to participate in the CQ WPX CW contest starting tomorrow.
Thanks!
Juha

I would still like someone to answer my questions about the controls and also comment on the image
I have seen yours Mark, and it looks much different and I assume that what yours looks like is more in line with what it should
look like?
Best,

Re: Thetis v.2.10.3.4 x64 - Advanced VAC Controls
JJ,
I am using cmASIO, which disables VAC so none of the settings in my VAC tab are even relevant anymore. Indeed, it's been so long since I've used VAC that I'd have to go back and study the specific settings I was running to try and jog my memory as to why I was running them. I will also say that I've been using Voicemeeter Potato for a long time, which dictated/affected/influenced some of my VAC settings. Also, the cmASIO settings in my Registry are tied to a VM Potato channel.

Roger that Mark!
I did find a very good video posted by Richie, explaining some of the things I was wondering about.
