Windows 24H2 Update & Voicemeter

Post by KA5KKT »

I'm attempting to update my Windows 11 installation to 24H2. All goes well up to a point. The Windows 11 Installation Assistant.exe upchucks with a reference to a Voicemeter Driver.

The problem is illustrated here...
https://forum.vb-audio.com/viewtopic.php?t=1928

I had temporarily installed then removed Voidemeter, but driver concerns still remain. The solution seems to be to remove the VB references. Those are located here...
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository
in a sub folder called: vbvoicemeetervaio64_win10.inf_amd64_xxxxxxxxx

The difficulty I have is I have never quite groked the Properties > Security > Permissions > Edit features of Windows.

I'm hoping someone can provide useful direction on how to go about removing the three Voicemetter entries found in the file repository as outlined above.

Kind regards,
Dick - KA5KKT

PS I am reminded of a song by Kenny Rodgers and the First Edition - Here's a variation of the refrain: 'I just dropped in to give myself permission to give myself permission.' :| https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kat_CHr-JI0

Thanks for posting this warning, and the link to the VB Audio forum for the work-around.

If I understand you correctly, you can't delete the files in question because you lack admin privileges, is that right?

See this link to run File Explorer with admin rights: https://wccftech.com/how-to/how-to-run- ... 1-systems/

Hey Scott...thanks for the heads up on that. I was directed to another work-around that was successful.

Vincent Burel has a beta build of Voicemeeter Potato 3.1.1.4 that's been pre-released to his Beta testers that fixes the Win11 24H2 issue.

Here's his Discord Testers download link, you may need to be a registered tester to access the page: https://discord.com/channels/7556902707 ... 3456977990

Voicemeter aside it seems that a USB audio driver from Realtek / Intel is not yet available. ...back to my headphone jack..?

Should someone come up with a workable Windows 24h2 USB / Realtek / Intel (or Lenovo) driver please give a shout.
