I just received my new Black Edition 7000DLE MkII today. Looking it over after unpacking and I see there is an empty rectangular hole on the back panel where the fan plug used to be on the earlier 7000's. Did they decide omit that feature during production on the new ones? Wondering why they just left the hole open like that?

7000DLE MkII no fan plug
Re: 7000DLE MkII no fan plug
I don't have one myself, but the web site shows an external fan connector.
I suspect you have a defective unit. Pending other responses in this topic you may want to contact the factory.

Re: 7000DLE MkII no fan plug
I just sent them an email with my concerns. It also sounds like there is something loose rattling around inside the radio. I have not attempted to power the unit on. I will post their reply here. Thanks
Re: 7000DLE MkII no fan plug
It's a good bet the connector was pushed back into the unit during shipping/handling and is now just flopping around in there at the end of its cable. You might take the cover off and see.

.....And the answer is,

"Hello Ralph,
The external FAN connector is no longer used so not installed, the rattling you hear is normal, this is the ferrite beads on internal cables,
Regards, " End quote.

Well, I am relieved to know that the new radio is not defective. In retrospect, it would have been nice if they would have used a block off plug or a plate over the hole during production to qualify the change.
I'd be happy to forward the email to you if you'd like to publish it elsewhere on the forum.

Interesting. Thanks for letting us know if that resolution.
Re: 7000DLE MkII no fan plug
Thank you for this thread.
I just received mine today with no fan plug as well.
This saved me from contacting customer service.

My question exactly. Why is that feature omitted? I liked it on mine (received the Black Edition in August 2021) as it provided a handy connection to an external (very quiet NOCTUA) fan for additional “insurance” ensuring the radio runs as cool as feasible.
Best!

Mine looks like this BUT I didnt get the corresponding female plug in the box with the radio. Messaged AL but awaiting where I might be able to source the plug. Assuming its a 12v ouput ?
