Hello,
how many current is available in the fan external connector?????
it's correct this connector?

Re: Anan 7000 External Fan Connector
Hi Fabio,
The details of the connector (Digikey part nos)
A30590-ND (Connector)
A30642-ND (Metal connecting terminals)
You can use a fan up to 250mA 12v rating,
Thanks,
Abhi

Re: Anan 7000 External Fan Connector
Abhi,
What is the pinout, please? And is there any over-current protection on that connector, i.e. if you short one of the pins to ground will you blow a trace off of the board?
Thanks,
Scott

Has Apache Labs provided this information ? I could not locate the connector on the Schematics. The connector is keyed. What lead goes into the square pin hole 12V or Ground???

Re: Anan 7000 External Fan Connector
Apache never provided the info. When I look at the only schematics I have for the 7000 fan circuit (located on the PA-Filter board), it shows the PWM controller version but I believe that Apache no longer ships boards with that controller implemented. You'll have to contact Apache for the correct schematics for your serial number.
You can figure out which pin is which using a voltmeter. Find which pin is producing 12V.

I have the schematics for my unit but could not find any reference to the internal fan or the external connector. I checked several times but maybe I missed it.
No problem measuring the output pins. I just had hoped Apache Labs would have responded to a question from the number one moderator/administrator, especially when it was a hardware question.
On my August 2022 vintage unit, the square pin hole on the external keyed fan connector is positive 12V.

Open the PA-Filter board schematic. Use the search function in Acrobat Reader to search for "fan".Chipp wrote:I have the schematics for my unit but could not find any reference to the internal fan or the external connector. I checked several times but maybe I missed it.
If only I was that important!I just had hoped Apache Labs would have responded to a question from the number one moderator/administrator, especially when it was a hardware question.

Scott, I downloaded the schematics for my version of the Orion board referenced in this post: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2343&p=2348
Hardware using the EP4CE115F29C8N Cyclone IV series FPGA
- ANAN-7000DLE MKII serial number DX8300497A or higher
- Andromeda with serial number ending in -CIV
EP4CE115F29C8N orion_mkiii_civ_v1_5_6_4_021020.pdf
Unsure how this set of schematics pertains to units with serial number DX8300497A or higher as the schematics are all dated 2018.
BTW I did a search on "FAN" with nothing found. No big deal. Just writing to let you know.

Your search failed, Chip, because I wrote:
You said you had the schematics. Do you have all the schematics, including that for the PA-Filter board?

Mystery solved: The PDF provided in the post (viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2343&p=2348) does not include the PA Filter Board.

I requested the schematics from Apache Labs and have attached the schematics they sent me.
BTW the schematics for my August 2022 unit still show the PWM circuitry. I know better thanks to your moderation of the forum.

Update. Although the internal fan runs at full speed from initial power on, an external two wire Noctua fan powered through the external fan connector changes speed. At initial power on it runs at full speed and then ramps down.Transmitting into a dummy load at 100 watts the fan ramps up to full speed in 15-20 seconds. The cool down period lasts several minutes before the fan ramps down. Apparently PWM is still functioning for the external fan. This may be old news. Think i better re-read the fan topics again.
