Suggestions for Display mounts

Postby JJ4SDR » Sun Oct 02, 2022 5:18 pm

I will need more display estate to be able to avail myself of the many features contained in N1MM+ which suggests I either acquire an additional monitor or one that is much larger. On the other hand, due to the shack configuration I may not be able to fit another monitor, but rather may need to buy a curved display instead.

Even a larger display would not be able to accommodate Thetis, N1MM+ logger, RF amp control via VNC, DAW (or VST Host) and LP-100A view so I guess I will need to see if there is way to fit 2 x 24" displays at my operating position. Side-side-side won't work though so the additional display would need to be mounted above or below the current one although I am not sure that would be very ergonomic. In that case, I may not need to invest in a mount at all.

Alternatively, a mount that I could use to have 2 x 24" displays sit one above the other might work. A mount that enables me to tilt and angle two displays as I please. I see that the mount that came with the DELL display can be taken off for more flexibility and options when placing them in a mount (I am hoping). Dell proposes a "Dual Stacking" solution that cost around $500.00! That accommodates side-by-side, stacking and monitor positioning in between those two configurations.

Amazon has an endless variety of monitor stands and mounts. If you can't find what you want there you aren't looking hard enough.

If your two, 24" displays are both 1920x1080s, then there are a large number of curved, widescreen monitors that have 3840x1080 resolution that would provide the equivalent screen real estate. If you want software to make the widescreen monitor act like two or three separate monitors, look at this product: https://www.displayfusion.com/

Be careful, more monitor space is like crack. I'm up to three, 4K displays at this point :D

Scott,

I wasn't looking at all

Nice, tidy looking "Command Bridge," you got there. Below, see my operating position.

Juha,

I'm running a 40 inch 4K TV as my monitor, it's big enough to have several windows running concurrently (you may need to click on any particular window to bring it to the forefront).

There's also (barely) enough space on my desk for two large studio monitor speakers, one on either side of the TV.

That arrangement serves me well.

For those who are OCD, the speakers are not touching the TV -- they're close but no contact. :)

Hey Mark,

Cool.

I would need to make big changes to accommodate anything that large. To the left of the left Yamaha speaker, I have a 19" home-brewed rack inside which the ANAN 7000 DLE MKII and a PYLE "Power supply center" sit with other devices on top of the rack.

Talk soon!
