Which one? Anyone compare them?
Re: Which one? Anyone compare them?
Hello again peeps, 2 of the stores already that I ordered the dj control compact said that they have to cancel my order because they said that its been discontinued and they can't get aholdo of it. Other than the dj control compact and the behringer cmd studio 2A, what other MIDI controllers have you used and works with ANANS?
Re: Which one? Anyone compare them?
There are plenty of them on eBay. One example.
Re: Which one? Anyone compare them?

My bad! Sorry! I put in a search of "DJ Control Compact" and that popped up. You are right, clearly that is the Starlight version which we do know doesn't work

Hercules DJControl Compact
Could you export your MIDI Settings from Thetis?
Setting up my DJControl Compact midi controller in Thetis I did the following,
Thetis 2.9.0.12 MW0LGE,
Click on Setup,
Select “Serial/Network/Midi/CAT”,
Select MIDI,
Click on “Configure MIDI”
After the MIDI Controller Setup Loads,
Click on Mange Mappings,
Select the file “DJControl Compact”
Click on the Commands.
This shows a list of the available Hardware function commands.
This is where the capabilities of the DJControl Compact are mapped to the hardware for use by Thetis.
At this point can you Click on
“Manage Mappings” and then “Export Mappings”
Name the file “Thetis.DJControl Compact”
This will create an export of the commands that activated for use on your specific instance of Thetis.
If you would attach the file “Thetis.DJControl Compact” to a message so that others could start with a “standard” configuration.
And after importing the file you produced, I would make a set of labels for the buttons and knobs to make the “DJControls Compact” intuitively operate, using your photo as a guide.
Sharing that export would explain alot as I am learning about the features and settings.

w-u-2-o wrote:It's really a very personal choice. The Hercules don't have multi-speed jog wheels AFAIK (neither of the ones I had/have do). What I did was sit down with a printed image of the controllers I was thinking about and penciled in the controls I wanted to support, playing with the layout until I thought I had something that would work for me. Ultimately I realized I did not need/want very many MIDI-fied controls and went with the relatively small and simple Hercules DJ Control Compact. It did everything I wanted and is small enough to push underneath my monitors when I'm not using it (most of the time I just use the mouse).

Thanks for the directions on how to export, but I really didn't need them
Here is my DJControl Compact setup exported for you.

Re: Which one? Anyone compare them?
Thank you very much for the export.
The instructions were more to show how I had worked out how I would produce the export and how to import it.
Thank you for you considerable contributions to the community.
I have very much to learn. I am expecting that last shipment of Apache-Labs components to complete a Hermes 14bit board, a 10W PA and filter board, to be driven by a V2 Controller to round out my Hermes Lite 2.0 Build9 gear in my shack.
I am looking forward to operating Thetis software builds on both the Hermes Lite 2.0 and the Apache-Labs SDR hardware and software.
The export will contribute to helping me understand the components of MIDI SDR control.
It is upon your shoulders of knowledge that extends my reach into more understanding.
Again thousand thanks.

Re: Which one? Anyone compare them?
I have ZERO experience with DJ controllers. This one looks compact, but I have no idea if it will work or not.

Which items in specifications do I need to look for that would suggest the controller either works or not?

A quick search in the forum would have provided the answer. Yes, its working with the latest Thetis-Version.
i.e. here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4870&p=27454&hilit=starlight#p27454
Also working: Numark DJ2GO2 Touch
But not tested every function. But a quick setup looks promising. Will do a full config for my HL2 setup.

Did some quick search, but I must have been blind to not see the thread you inserted a link to

Hello Ernst,
To be clear, which Thetis version exactly are you talking about? v2.10.3.4 was released a little after the date of your response to me.
I am still on v2.9.0.8 x64 (Pre-release).

Re: Which one? Anyone compare them?
Install the latest Thetis version (2.10.3.4 from nov 19th 2023)
It works great now with the Hercules DJ Control Starlight.
One tip, keep your finger on the touch-sensitive-wheel-pad when programming the wheels.
In my case Thetis doesn't respons well on wheel turning when i use the side of the wheel.
The older Hercules shown in some pictures in this tread (without the Tempo sliders) is out of production.

Re: Which one? Anyone compare them?
Yesterday I configured a Numark DJ2Go2 Touch.
Some oddities, but overall works great!
* main knob in the center (top) is not a knob, its only a switch (values 1 or 127)
* left and right slider are "reversed", so 0 is on top, 127 is on buttom (Richie has already added a fix, will be in some future releases)
* headphone-buttons (located right from left-wheel and left from right wheel) are currently acting in a strange way... still investigating....
