In affective NR when using transverters?

I have a 100D and find the NR to work well when on HF bands using ANT1 but when I use the XVTR ports to connect to VHF/UHF transverters the NR just distorts the audio and makes it sound garbled and un readable?
Any one have any idea why it would do this and a possible solution?
I tried the various options NR and none improve this.
