Wrong sub-forum for both of these posts. Moved the topic to the correct sub-forum for the first post/question.

No need to "shout"--all capital letters is "shouting" on the internet.

There is no "best" laptop. There are literally hundreds of them, if not thousands, that will work fine.

You would be best served by a laptop with a relatively powerful CPU, a higher spec. i5, i7 or equivalent. Thetis works better with more cores. 4 cores is a practical minimum, 6 is better, 8 better still. That's real cores, not threads.

A lot of RAM is unnecessary. 8GB will work fine. Windows works better with 16GB, though.

A lot of disk space, or a super fast disk is unnecessary. Any reasonable SSD will work fine.

The more screen real estate the better. A 4K display would be nice to have. The ability to easily add an additional display would be helpful.

A hardwired GigE Ethernet port is a hard requirement. You must have one. Either built-in, or on a real USB3.0 port.

To learn about Protocol 2 read the many topics in this sub-forum:

Post your Protocol 2 related question there.

Elan, I can not say that my Lenovo IdeaPad 5 14ARE05 works perfectly as I do see regular SEQ errors. But this has never caused any issues, so for me as a backup only note book it is good enough. I would want something better if it was running my ANAN full time.
It has a 6 core CPU and Thetis uses 10% in RX, my desktop 8 core CPU uses only 3%.

Andrew: have you taken my suggestion to set up a dedicated NIC? Because even the fastest, most amazing computers often get SEQ errors without a dedicated NIC. So don't be too quick to blame your laptop. This problem is endemic and is a result of the communications protocol used between the software and the firmware.

Hi Scott, I just came across your question here.
No I haven't set up a dedicated NIC, my desktop has been running perfectly since the throttling index mod, even before that seq errors were rare so I felt no need.

The note book is purely as a temporary back up and is fine for that purpose.

For interest; I got a free old Acer E-571 i5-5200U laptop and surprisingly runs Thetis reasonably well. Still giving this away to a friend.
Also I picked up cheap, 2018 Acer Altos 310-F4 with a Xeon E3-1245 v6 CPU, this is still a personable CPU but with Thetis has the highest usage load. The server purposed CPU is a poor choice for us.

For my latest ANAN 7000 DLE MKII, I purchased an HP VICTUS "Gaming" Laptop with 15.6" Screen, the fastest i7, and all the best specifications. Cost was $1,200 and I absolutely love it! It is getting harder and harder to find a laptop with an Ethernet Port - so I did a great deal of searching. If you get this one, you will love it!

Good Luck!
