ANAN-7000DLE MKII 100W HF & 6M Transceiver (Black Edition) Front Inputs

Postby KD1GA » Tue Jan 10, 2023 3:26 pm

Can someone please clarify the size of the headphone, CW and Mic connectors located on the front of the unit. Documentation I have been reading seems to provide different sizes. Also, can anyone that has received the Black version confirm the RJ-45 is actually located on the front as shown on the site.

Both the blue and black face versions have 3.5mm jacks and the RJ45 is on the front panel. It's been this way on all ANAN models since the ANAN-10 with the exception of the 7000 and 8000 units built with the giant, silver face chassis.

The reason they have all been built this way is because all of the SDR boards, from the original Hermes all the way through the latest Orion MK-whatever, have a row of PCB mounted 3.5mm connectors and an RJ45 arrayed along one edge. The board is simply butted up against the front panel.

In fact, even on the silver face chassis 7000 and 8000 you can see that the SDR board is butted up against the rear panel and the same connectors are there instead of in the front.

Thanks so much for the information it's greatly appreciated. I can't wait until this thing ships. Based on my latest conversations with the folks at Apache Labs it appears shipping is running closer to 6 weeks than the 3 to 4 weeks indicated on their website. Which if these duration holds true is still pretty quick compared to others.

Make sure you study the pinouts of the mic and key connectors if you are planning to use them. They are by no means standard or obvious, especially the mic connector. Also be aware that the rear panel speaker outputs from the internal 2W speaker amp are for use with plain old, unpowered speakers and also have a very non-standard pinout.

Very good to know, I'll investigate. So I'm guessing a balanced XLR to 3.5mm TRS cable won't work.
