Apache Station Photo Thread

It's past time for a station photo thread! :)

RULES: since this is the Apache Labs forum, the only rule is that your Apache Labs hardware must be shown in the photo. For stations that are operated remotely there must be at least one photo that shows where the ANAN hardware is located.

If you don't know how to post a photo, it's easy. Just hit the attachment tab below the post editor and click "Add files".

Great Idea. Kind of a "fisheye" photo of the Anan side of the basement shack. It's messier than it looks.

I attached two photos, one of the rack with the 8000 shown and one screen shot. I also have a LDMOS amp that I built which is interfaced to the 8000 through a wavenode wn-2, the interface is made up of a relay / input section with specific cabling that I made. Everything is remote although I am in the same room hi hi. I turn everything on from the pc, even control the bootloader switch remote, also I can make software changes to the lcd/arduino controller remote; this was done by additional hardware changes to the 8000. There is also a remote relay section I built that allows me to power all up with a batch file. The amp is a two module unit that I built with components from W6PQL, it is of course interfaced to the Anan for pure signal, I also monitor the bcd input to the amp from the wavenode screen as this allows me to see the auto band selection from the Anan along with module temps shown. There is a remote antenna switch and tuner as well, I also can control the tuner / monitor functions as well (MFJ-998). Thanks for allowing this.

I spy a Presonus Studio 192 in that photo, too :)

Panoramic view of the current W9AC control room -- always subject to change. Left and right pods float on the desktop and are adjusted for best view to the center operating position. LCD monitors mount onto a 60-inch steel arc at eye level. Vertical compartment boards also float between desktop and riser to allow for quick equipment changes.

Here's my shack:

First the obligatory pic of my Anan: it's sitting directly on top of my amplifier so the coax cable between the two is only 12 inches long (that way my radio and amp will both effectively "see" the same feedline SWR regardless of band or other variables). The MDF box under the radio just contains an air filter. That stack of stuff is immediately off my left shoulder and is normally hidden from view by a hardboard sound partition because my condenser mic picks up everything including the fan noise from those components (I've got the partition removed for the pic).

And this is my operating bench. I typically have both receivers running (RX1 is fed by a homemade 80/40/20 maypole dipole, RX2 is fed by a homemade wideband active mag loop).
And yes, that's a clothespin holding my PTT. That's what I've been using ever since the first day I got on the air, it's always worked fine for me.

Another basement shack. My 200D is on the right. Thetis is on the 40-inch 4K monitor. Two MIDI controllers, Behringer CMD PL-1 and CMD Micro.

Current setup at K8EZB. Configured for remoting the radio gear (a la Scott); to be done at a later date.

Main operating desk at W2PA includes ANAN-8000DLE and equipment spanning a few decades. Also using two Behringer MIDI controllers and 4k monitor showing Thetis and various other radio-related software.

Hey Rick,

Which stand you are using for them 2 displays? I need one. Presently have only 1 DELL display, but will be adding one in future.

I am using two separate monitor mounts for these monitors, both from Amazon:

Loctek Monitor Mount Heavy Duty Gas Spring Swing Monitor Arm Desk Mount Stand Fit 10-34 inches Monitor 13.2-33 lbs Weight Capacity (amazon.com)

VIVO Single Monitor Desk Mount, Extra Tall Fully Adjustable Stand for 1 LCD Screen up to 32 inches, Ultra Wide Screens up to 38 inches, 22 lbs Capacity, STAND-V001T (amazon.com)

Using two because I had the Loctek single monitor mount and needed a mount to get a second monitor above the lower monitor. The Vivo mount is available in a version to support two monitors but I am not impressed with the robustness of the single monitor mount for a monitor this size. Amazon has (too) many choices!

Thanks very much Rick! Yup, I realize that there is a plethora of choices, but I was just curious!

My main main operating picture below (have 3 other amps, including the RF2K-S, full-legal limit SSPA). 2 iambic paddles missing from the "line-up."
