power output settings on 6 metres

Postby VK4BXI » Thu Mar 30, 2023 3:56 am

Now that propagation is increasing I have finally gotten around to setting the correct drive levels for 6 metre operation. I notice that if I setup a P.A. profile for 6 metres and 100 watts at 50.5 MHz then if I shift to 53.5 MHz for our local FM net what was 100 watts is now only some 30 watts or so, with ~ proportional power at frequency's in between. It would seem that I'm on the edge of low-pass or band pass filter or something. I do have the bypass box checked for 6 metres and also bypass on TX . and also by pass the 55 MHz BPF. So I'm not quiet sure what I am missing.................unless that's the way 6 metres is. Please is this a normal setup ? I also have a profile for 400Watts that includes an amplifier...which also shows similar results.
