G2 WI-FI Speed Is Slow?

Postby KC2QMA » Wed Aug 30, 2023 7:24 pm

I have my G2 100W no control panel connected to my home Wi-Fi and the internet speed is terribly slow? I have tried 2Ghz and 5Ghz and can only get speeds like 0.80 Mbps Download & 0.20 Mbps Upload.
It seems like the built in wi-fi on the RaPI is in some kind of slow mode as I get great wi-fi speed with my other devices.
I have no experience with the Raspberry Pi or Linux so I am a bit lost ;)

Sadly, this is an endemic and widely reported issue on all Pi models. If you do a web search on this problem there is no, single, obvious fix.

I realize this post is pretty unhelpful :( other than to assure you that you are not alone.

My recommendation is to Google the problem and try all the various solutions. Remember that if you upgrade the kernel you will need to recompile some of the G2-specific software (there was just another thread on this).

My WiFi is slow, but not too slow. Better than nothing! WiFi pages with images do not take too long to load.

I was surprised that I didn't have to enter in a WiFi password, to connect to my secure network! I wonder why?

OK I understand. Well as long as I can download updates it's fine with me :)
