I am having rf issues with my 7000dle mkIII. Distorted audio and when it distorts My buddy says it sounds sort of like darth vader. It kind of pulls down the radio frequency or warbles it. I was wondering if the10mhz in and the xvtr port should be terminated. I am having a heck of a time getting the rf in the radio tamed. I have isolators inline, ferrites everywhere and used vac mic but still get distorted. This is all while using the amplifier. I use my kenwood ts2000 and all sounds clear running 1.5kw.

Most likely a problem with the audio buffers over/underruns. If it happens again check the audio-tab in the settings and make a screenshot.
Usually RF issues a represented as a kind of echo/reverb.

I use the mic input in front of radio but did test using vac with same results.
Do you terminate the 10mhz in and xvtr port?

Looks like when I terminated the 10mhz input the issue went away. What grief . I hope this is it.

So far the above issue is gone. Maybe it should be mentioned in a quick start guide in the forum. Although Scott had mentioned it probably several times, I did not think about those 2 ports.

Just a 50 ohm load at the ports that are not in use.

Late to the party but, yes, I've always been a proponent of terminating all unused connectors on any RF system. That said, this is the first instance I've heard of where RFI was getting into the 10MHz input.

Yes, this is my first radio with a 10mhz port. If I remove the terminator, it starts sounding like I am being pulled off frequency. Also gets distorted during xmit. I had pulled all my grounds looking for a ground loop. It is worse with the amp on. Minimal or none running barefoot. Good lesson to learn.
