G2 Ultra - no response from panel

Hello,

Just received my G2 Ultra (with display and controls) yesterday. Nice looking radio.
I see that Laurence has updated the firmware to 19, so I did the update and also updated the P2app. Also re-built pihpsdr from Christoph.

Problems:

1. Panel does not work with pihpsdr, nor with Thetis (latest release)
2. Thetis reports overload on ADC2 even when RX2 is off.

Thetis works fine on RX1 although only SSB has been tested. Once I get COM0COM working I will test digital modes as well.

A quick experiment to see what's happening with your panel:

open a terminal window
type (case sensitive):

cd ~/github/Saturn/sw_projects/P2_app
./p2app -p

then see what messages get reported.

min reports messages including:

p2app client software version: 31
control panel enabled
found Arduino serial device
Initialising G2V2 panel handler
found panel product id=5; h/w version = 2; s/w version = 9


If you get those messages, the panel is enabled for Thetis. You will need to set up the cat over tcp/ip server in thetis.


pihpsdr will come up with its discovery window and at the left you can choose what panel is enabled; it should be set to G2 mk2 panel

From there it should work

So I guess that part works, but I still cannot use the panel. Is there any documentation for setting up the TCP/IP CAT server?
It is enabled in Thetis, but perhaps the port number is not right. I used the default in the latest version of Thetis.

BTW, pihpsdr reports "incompatible" with FW version 19 and cannot start.

Thanks for posting the latest version of the manual. I am back working on my G2 Ultra.

And I still do not have any response from the panel. when I try to update P2_app as per page 34 in the manual, I get a bunch of errors - one seems to be related to the panel. See attached file.

Perhaps I am not using the correct repository?

Well, making a backup is actually useful

I updated Linux and restored one of the directories and the panel now works with the latest release of Thetis. Running the p2app with the -p option helps too!

I did not loose much hair in the process - although in % perhaps so.

I have been following this thread with interest. I am a new user, having just purchased a G2 Ultra this month, and have been quite perplex on two fronts.

(1) The first is I have no front panel support from Thesis. I do a ./p2app -p and all I see, in response to Laurence's suggestion (above) is:
Control Panel enabled

(2) Any time I do a "git pull" it scripts mentioned in the current "G2 Saturn Manual" it ends in errors. It does not seem to have authority to log on and acquire the files from Laurence's repository.

Any help in these two areas would be appreciated.

Have you set up the CAT over TCP/IP server in Thetis, with the "full" IP address (ie not 127.0.0.1)?

Setup -? Serial/Network/Midi CAT/
Network tab
on TCP/IP CAT server, press "IPV4" and it should list the IP address of your computer colon 13013
click "server running"


A full dump of the error message response to the "git pull" would be helpful. Copy the text, and paste here would enable us to see what is happening.
