Postby ramdor » Fri Dec 08, 2023 5:43 pm

Hi all,

Thetis v2.10.3.5 final release is out here : https://github.com/ramdor/Thetis/releases

Overview video : https://youtu.be/aTvEznU2fY8?si=I9vJ1bnUVAPN0lEO

Note: since release of the final there has been a fix for the following, and will show u1/u2 in the titlebar. u2 is most up to date
-u1 - 6m lna issue
-u2 - the Spectrum Grid Min Val not being restored per band, caused by recent 'dead code' clean out

Richie.

Is anybody working on this CW/TX/RX problem? I take it this would be in the ANAN firmware and not Thetis.
I think this explains how my Pixel Pro quit working (burned out the amp) twice.

Richie, thanks for the enable/disable switch for the MultiMeters, I've always wished I could hide my meters without having to delete them.

Richie,

Thanks a lot for adding "[add] new option to apply 31dB tx attenuation when output power is increased and PS-A is on".

No more spikes/splatters when adjusting pure signal from low to high power.

@ea3aqr yeah, the adc overloads did worry me somewhat. It is quite crude at the moment, just setting max att even if output slider moves by 1, but it was the easiest/quickest to implement. May add some more finesse at some point where it only happens if power increase is over some threshold. Trouble is that the change in slider is not exactly representative of the change in output power (unless calibrated via the PA config).

Hello Rickie, Thank you for the nice update, is it possible to add a rec/play button below the Mute in collapse mode?

Hello Richie, I would also like to say thank you for your great work for us radio amateurs.

I would like to add a request here, it would be nice if I could go on the air immediately after a Audio recording and then pressing the play button, without having to press the MOX button or the PTT button first.

This could be switched on or off in option 2 for those who don't like it that way.

Maybe there is already a corresponding function or setting in the setup, but I have tried everything,
I always have to additionally press the PTT or MOX button to send out the audio recording.

73 Joerg, DD8JM

One more note: When I press the PLAY button, the pop-up window in the setup prompts me to save the TX profile.
The window appears as long as the PLAY button is pressed.

I think this is a mistake.

For those of you with an external ASIO audio interface device, have a look at Richie's audio guide that's included in Thetis v2.10.3.5 pre-release 3. For convenience, I've attached it here. This release incorporates a ChannelMaster.dll file that works with Windows Registry changes that are addressed in the audio guide. This is the work of Bryan, W4WMT; Richie, MW0LGE; Warren, NR0V, and possibly others.

The end result of the change re-pipes all audio to/from the audio interface and disables the ANAN audio panel jacks. VAC still operates the same as before.

One strong benefit of this change is that latency remains low and consistent. It's especially useful for CW QSK operators. Here's a current list of supported drivers:

UMC ASIO Driver
Studio 192 ASIO
Focusrite USB ASIO
AudioBox ASIO Driver
MOTU M Series
ASIO Lynx
ULTRAVOICE ASIO Driver

This ASIO work is a very interesting development for me as I use an RME UFX II audio interface with multiple inputs and outputs. At the moment I don't feel I am competent enough to do registry edits to activate this feature. I hope a future development would be just to see all my ASIO inputs and outputs displayed on the drop down lists of the VAC audio setups once I select ASIO as my driver mode. Hopefully this will come in time. At the moment my audio interface is just used as a mixer and mic pre-amp. I simply take a convent output to the line in on the back of my Anan 7000DLE mk ii, and the speaker outputs on balanced audio cables to a convenient line in on my RME audio interface. I could completely dispense with the cabling if a full ASIO implementation comes along.

First of all a big thanks as always for your incredible work Richie.
The rate at which you are releasing these updates is amazing.

I have updated without issue and added the reg key for the ASIO audio as described.
All works so far so good.

Can you confirm that if I want to use the front panel audio again I just need to remove the reg key for now ?
I tend to use the front panel for headphones from time to time and also have another audio config with a mic plugged in the front, neither of these now work.
I know this is early days but hope in the future we can save something in the tx profile that switches back and forth?
Also I guess we no longer have or need any control over buffers etc?

Anyway back to playing....

Thanks again

Hi Paul,

You don't have to remove the whole reg key. You can just delete the text of your asio driver name within the key value, or you can mangle the name somehow (like adding a bogus character or something). Whichever seems easiest for you.

Stay tuned for a finalized guide to replace the preliminary one that came with the pre-release installer.

Hi Paul, does using this new feature have advantages on using voicemeeter ? Please for give my lack of knowledge but I'm not quite sure how this would work in practice. I have a moto M4 routed through voicemeeter using vac.

I upgraded from 2.10.3.3 to the latest 2.10.3.5, using Richie's ADD/REMOVE/INSTALL procedure. Of course, all previous custom settings from the previous version reappeared as expected, and did not make any changes from my external rack gear equipment which goes to the Balance input to the G2. The issue for me when I go to TX is my audio gain structure lifted to distortion levels reported by my rag chew group, but my MIC levels show -5 to touch 0 on the peaks. When I did a recording and playback to listen with headphones WOW I have all knobs to the right-sounding audio. So, for a quick fix, I re-installed 2.10.3.3 and right back to perfect levels again. Has anyone else experienced this dilemma?

Thanks, Art

Thanks Brian that's a simple enough solution for now, look forward to the guide when its released.

Hi Tony
Can't really answer this as I haven't used voicemeter. I am new to playing with ASIO audio as I only got the interface a few week ago.
One thing it has done for me is allowed me to use VAC with one sound device while still using ASIO for mic and speakers. My be you can do that with voicemeter ? Also the Mic slider now controls the Mic gain from the desktop without going into settings.

Tony,

With the new ASIO configuration, I've eliminated Voicemeeter altogether and liberated myself from its complexity. R.I.P.

I've been using Thetis this way since Bryan, W4WMT modified the ChannelMaster.dll file about one year ago. The Windows system registry changes that are described in the audio guide make subsequent Thetis revisions much easier to manage. Before, Bryan was modifying the ChannelMaster.dll file for each new Thetis release.

Thanks for the feedback guys . @ Paul 9AC yeah would like to eliminate voicemeeter but still keep thetis separate from you tube audio browsing etc. Anyway I'm getting off topic so will keep an eye out on the forum to see how it pans out. Maybe Scott will chime in at some point Thanks again for the help

I have been using the new ASIO config for just over a week and the only issue I am having is that sometimes I have no TX audio and need to reboot the PC. I have tried restarting Thetis but this doesn't resolve the issue. Vac audio is working if I switch to Digital mode just the Mic isn't on SSB. As I say a reboot resolves it, at first I thought it was when the PC had gone to sleep but that doesn't seem to be the cause.
Not a big issue, just thought I would report it.

Thanks

It turns off during TX only if DUP is on

Return to “Thetis”
