The installer is choking on my Windows 7 installation. Any thoughts on a workaround for this?

Thanks,

hmm I have not used wix installer at all, but a quick scan of the xml in the project, and it seems like it requires a windows version number >= 603, which is windows 8.1. I think it should be 601, but Doug is the man for this.

also seems like WindowsFirewallHelper.dll has been missed from the installer

I have rebuilt the installers to check for >=601, included the missing dll and tested them on a win7 machine, seem ok. Doug will have to change the tapr distro.

Richie,

Thank you! The installer ran perfectly and handled the database compatibility update without any issues. Thetis then came up fine with all my settings intact when it was re-started. When I ran the Firewall Check it completed successfully and indicated my firewall was configured correctly.

2.9.0.1 - 22a is running fine here.

73 and thanks!

The new skin buttons didn't make it over. Made and added.

The 5 channelized frequencies for 60M didn't make it either. Shows 5.354 only.

Thetis installs and runs very nice. Thanks Doug and Ramdor!

Edit: Using Region Germany and check Extended clear all bandstacks. FCK! Absolutely annoying! I need extended for my transverters!

I updated last night 2.9.0 and again this morning the updated version. No problems with either. My 60 meter channels were good also. All were there.
Thanks!

In your opinion ;)

It has been there for 9 months. I can work on changing it, but then people will have issues when they change region or turn extended off/on and then tell me they have hundreds of entries that have mixed in with the user defined ones. I will have to add code to differentiate between system/user entries, update the database structure, and a bunch of other stuff. It is not something I have that much interest in looking at tbh right now.

Richie.

Installed the MSI version over the old 2.8.11 and it is working perfectly.
Not seeing any of the issues others have encountered.
Thank you Richie for the many hours of your personal time you have put into this software code for all of our members to enjoy.

Files in use?

Hi all,

If I run the installer from Thetis-v2.9.0.1.x64.msi, Setup (see attachment) tells me that it wants to update files that are used by:
- Dell Support Assistant Remediation
- Firefox
- NVIDIA LocalSystem Container

What files are overwritten here and can this cause problems? I don't remember the same for Thetis 2.8.11. Is it safe to continue?

András

When you start the program merely click it and it will disappear.

Why are we forced to see it? And why are you deleting my posts? Just asking a question that I'm sure others are out there wondering tbe same thing. Doesn't seem quite fair. So not only do we have to deal with political messages, we can't even ask about them.
Also, what's the point of having a "wants and wishes" post of you're just going to delete a want or wish?

Hi András,
I've got the same message on screen and I stopped firefox for installing Thetis. Up to now I have no problems on my ANAN-PC and I hope it will persist.

The author of the software, Richie, has explicitly expressed several times that the feature will stay and that there is nothing that will sway him on this. This has been known since near the beginning of March, based on previous discussions on this forum.

Richie fully understands that not everyone will agree. But given that such disagreement will not cause him to change the code there is no point in allowing further discussion of the issue, since it will have no effect on the matter and will only serve to distract everyone from the rest of the discussion.

Further posts complaining about this issue will be deleted. This is a matter I will not be swayed on. And I certainly understand that not all will agree with my standpoint on this, just as they may not agree with Richie's standpoint either. Also do not assume this is tacit agreement with Richie's decisions. My decision in this matter is wholly intended to keep tempers low, discussion civil, and development on track. I realize this approach may not be entirely successful, but I hope it will be more successful than not.

I will leave these two posts so that people will unambiguously understand this. Further posting on the matter will be deleted. Repeat offenders will be put on moderation if necessary.

73,

Scott

Well instead of deleting my posts asking about it, maybe point me in the right direction on where to find the information on this entire thing first. Because I don't follow this forum on a regular basis. I haven't been on here in months, probably over a year, so how am I supposed to know all this information? How about people buying an Apache radio for the first time? Are there going to be other Pop Ups eventually added? Like Google Ads? I just saw a post on the Apache Facebook page and no one has any idea about the pop up because they haven't been following all these updates and only use Official releases. So, you're going to have a lot of folks with the same reaction as me.

Just a heads up, v.2.9.0.3 was released over on TAPR last night. It is at exactly the same stage as my 2.9.0.1 22a release. It includes the fixes for the broadcast cat issue, os version check and the missing dll.

Richie.

Just for asking, do I just install the newest version .msi or should I uninstall the previous version?
It appears to just overwrite the previous version (I guess)
Thanks
