Hey folks,

Hope you all had a good Christmas & New Year. Please could you list all 2.9.0.6 issues over on github (https://github.com/ramdor/Thetis-2.9.0/issues). Try to check to see if the issue is already reported. If you have problems with github just list it here.

I am looking to spend some time again on Thetis shortly. Sorry to those that have emailed me but have not received a reply over the months.

73 Richie.

Richie, Forgive me for asking: you added a new section just an hour ago "Enhancements" I believe it is called.... did you want me/us to add to this directly or as someone has done - add "NEW ISSUE"? I don't want to clobber what you have if you meant it to be BY you...

if it is a bug just add a new bug, if it is a want/wish just add a comment to https://github.com/ramdor/Thetis-2.9.0/issues/55

thanks

Mundane as it might seem but the config dialogs really need cleaning up if only to help out new users. By which I mean disabling controls that are inoperable in particular modes. For example it is not clear which audio controls work with VAC and to turn on by default sane PTT settings. Oh and why no master AF Gain when using VAC?. Much of this issue arises I suspect from the ad hoc inclusion of new features that are tacked onto the existing GUI So it is good there are plans for a GUI overhaul.

A bit of thread drift, but...

All audio controls work with VAC with the following exceptions:

VAC1 only carries RX1 audio. VAC2 only carries RX2 audio.
Master AF does not work with VAC1 or 2.

I believe this is all by original design intent (which, BTW, I don't agree with ;) ). The original developers believed that the box should look and feel like a radio, meaning that mic/speaker/headphone should attach to the box instead of the PC. VAC was only for digi mode operations. As part of this philosophy, having Master AF not apply to VAC outputs allowed the operator monitor the proceedings at a volume level independent of that used for the digi mode software.

Nowadays a lot more people prefer to be fully virtualized and rely exclusively on VAC audio.

There is already a wish list item for a "VAC 0" output, which would be the same audio stream that currently emanates from the ANAN headphone and speaker outputs. And to allow for more than one simultaneous ASIO connection.

At any rate, this is not the place for wish list items. Richie provided a link above for that purpose. You will need to arrange for a free account on GitHub to use that link.

Please remove the "Stand up for Ukraine" statement that pops up every time Thetis starts. This has nothing to do with ham radio or the ham spirit. Ham radio is one of very few spaces today free from politics, ideology and religion and we should keep it that way.

Please read ARRL Amateur Radio Code of Conduct.

Besides that Thetis is a great software.

Thetis is a great piece of software, including his decision to add the "Stand Up for Ukraine" pop up.

This has been brought up before, and Ritchie has made his position clear.

Just my opinion.

Sam,

1) Speaking of conduct (hey, you brought it up), it is considered very poor conduct to just dump a large document into any particular topic of discussion without pointing to the specific area or areas in the document that are relevant to the discussion.

2) Regardless, the .pdf file you attached related strictly to over-the-air conduct, it has nothing to do any statement that Richie decides to display in any Thetis session that he builds.

3) Richie builds his Thetis versions for his own use and anyone else who wants to use them. The fact that he makes those versions available for anyone else's use is strictly by his own choice. If you want a Thetis build that doesn't display that or any other statement then you're perfectly welcome to build your own and even publish it for others' use if you like.

4) Anyone can easily hide the "Stand up for Ukraine" statement with a left-mouse click on that statement at any time.

Mark

Gents:

Please consider this a kindly moderator request to end discussion on the Ukraine thing. As most of us have experienced previously on this forum, this is one of those topics that goes around and around but never gets anywhere. I'll leave these existing posts so that we are all reminded about whether we agree, disagree, or just don't care. But further discussion will be removed, and I'd rather not have to lock the topic.

Thanks,

Scott
