Pre-recorded audio

Postby JJ4SDR » Thu Jan 26, 2023 3:45 am

I know it is easy to record oneself, but I wondered what the easiest way is to have a selection of pre-recorded audio clips at your disposal? Like when trying to bust a pile-up, not wanting to lose one's voice in doing that, and just clicking your mouse button to choose the clip you want to transmit over the air.

I am using LogHX3 for these tasks. It has an integrated voice-recorder/player. i.e. "F1" switches Thetis to TX, plays a defined wav-file and switches back to RX.

In ham radio this is known as a "voice keyer". N1MM logging software has this capability, specifically designed for running pile-ups or contests.

In broadcasting and the podcast world this is known as a "soundboard". There is a lot of soundboard software out there but you'd have to figure out a way to automate the PTT function (I'll bet some StreamDeck users have already done this).

VAC will have to be involved with any of these solutions, of course.

This discussion more properly goes in the digi mode/logging sub-forum since it's not about Thetis per se. I'll be moving it there later this morning.

Here is a short thread about N1MM: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4351&p=21959

Thanks Ernst and Scott and sorry for the thread drift (again) on my part

P.S. I do use N1MM+ but the functions that I have implemented are rather primitive.
