My older laptop (with integrated graphics) is not likely to handle the added CPU load associated with the meter additions. I am running v2.9.0.6 with the latest sw patch without issue, however I'd love to take advantage of the new release with the wealth of bug fixes and feature improvements. Is it possible to run v2.9.0.8 without incurring any additional cpu loading? I am more than happy with the current metering presented if that's still an option. Be interested in hearing from those that have loaded both.

Kirb, you are worrying needlessly. First, 2.9.0.8 will not require any additional CPU without the new meters being displayed. Second, the new meters might require an additional percent or two of CPU, nothing that will severely tax your PC unless you are already riding the ragged edge for some reason. And if you are riding the ragged edge then considering you spent thousands on an ANAN it's worth a few hundred to upgrade your PC and get full value for your hard-earned dollars.

Fantastic Job Richie and Ernst.

Working well on my Angelia board, home brew transceiver with Protocol 1.

Just a reminder to keep good backups!

Instructions here: https://community.apache-labs.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4572

With people chomping at the bit to run the bleeding edge alpha versions sometimes you get unintended consequences. Recently folks have had issues with missing meter settings and fouled up transmit profiles. Five minutes copying some folders can save you hours of pulling out your hair.

It's even a better idea to have automated backups of your entire system using tools like Macrium, Acronis, or even Windows own built-in backup tool. I personally keep daily snapshots going back 3 weeks so that I can reach way back for a file or folder if necessary.

Please don't bog down this topic with backup questions. Hit the backup topic referenced above instead.

Thanks for all the hard work and dedication. I'm enjoying the new features.

Couple of things, both of which I can work around :-

1 ) If RX2 is turned on by 3rd party s/w eg JTDX - meters for RX2 dont appear. Workaround - Turn RX2 off then on - meters back. Or turn RX2 on before opening JTDX .

2) Occasionally main panadapter/waterfall (& less often) Meters flicker to black. I havent noted any specific event that causes this.
Less often ( 1 x day ) panadapter area flickers and remains black. EIther touching/resizing a meter or turning RX2 off/on will restore display.

System: fully updated WIN 11 with Radeon Rx 6600 graphics and latest drivers.
All the best

Thanks for the update, it looks really nice. I was wondering if in a future build you could take a look at memories. I use a transverter for 2 meters and I think it would be great to scan them memories. Possibly add a checkbox for Y/N on each memory line for whether you want to include the frequency in the scan. Also, it might be nice tp remove the reference to the Flex radio in the description box. - Garrett

Thanks so much Richie and Ernst

One question, is that ok :

The frequencies are not saved in the "GEN Filter" in the band stack (example 0,198 MHz AM longwave), there is no button for "GEN".

Using the import function in the settings window will not pull in PA or MultiMeter config to the database that is currently in use. I will need to add some sort of popup that asks if you want to replace/ignore as importing or 'adding/appending' these settings to what is already there is not something I want to consider. Time is very limited at the moment, but will hopefully look at this next week sometime, and get an update to the pre-release built. Hopefully the rare flickering issues will be resolved at that point as well.

Never used these awesome looking extra meters before - great job Ernest and Richie - and I am not sure if I would need to tweak settings or something. The analog S meter readings are consistently around 2 S units lower than on the "original" S meter in Thetis. Why would that be?

That's because you are using the "Average" smeter. Uncheck "signal average" in your analog S meter options.

A small bug has been introduced with this release. My Andromeda's Multi knob no longer works.

Back to the Manual Notch.

I had it working around the end of March. Then the carrier disappeared, but now it is back and the MANUAL NOTCH DOES NOT WORK. It displays OK, but does not do anything to the carrier.

I have re-loaded the firmware (V2.1.26 Protocol 2) and re-installed Thetis (2.9.0.8). I also tried to reset the database.

Running on a stock Andromeda (other than the updated firmware) with Windows 10.

I am tearing the last bit of my hair out, but to no avail. Everything else seems to be working. The auto notch works, but of course the S-meter now shows the level of the unwanted carrier, so I would really like to have the manual notch working again. What should I look for next?

Hi Mark,

Yes, the notch appears to be active - visually, but no affect on the audio. Also, I can drag it on the panafall.
The width is set to 200Hz, so it should be easy to cover the carrier, especially at 4x magnification.

Yes Ernst, MNF is switched on and the display shows it. I can also drag it across the spectrum, but nowhere does it change the audio or the S-meter.

I have tried to delete both the data directory and the the Thetis directory in Program Files. I then started Thetis and waited for the Wisdom file to re-generate. All to no avail.

Since I have now re-loaded the firmware (v 2.1.26c), re-installed Thetis (2.9.0.8) and regenerated the data files, I am beginning to suspect hardware. Could there be a problem with the FPGA?

Windows 10 is up to date and power to the unit is 13.6 Volts.

Erik,

I'm a little confused by your answer. I asked if you had the Active box checked but you didn't exactly answer that question, you simply said "the notch appears to be active".

Please verify that the Active box is checked for the specific notch filter you're testing:

Hi Mark,

Well, the "Active" box is checked as is the "Notch #" (=0), so I guess that means the MNF is active. If the Active was not checked the notch would not show on the panadaptor.

I am going to try going back for P1 firmware.

Firmware has nothing to do with MNF operation. All filtering is done in Thetis.

Well wonders do happen, MNF is now working!

Keep in mind that I use Andromeda and therefore normally use the collapsed display. The quick menu at the bottom has an "Add MNF Notch" button. When tapping that, the MNF display does indeed show up on the display, but the notch is not actually started. I had to dig out another button "MNF" to actually start the notch function.

Perhaps I am the only one confused about how this is supposed to work, but I will start working on an addendum to the Andromeda user guide in order to collect some of those little - perhaps less intuitive - aspects of Andromeda.

Sorry for the noise on the forum.

Been traveling down south for the past couple of months, just now trying the new release.

Thank you Ritchie and all of the FW/SW developers! For fixing quite a few bugs AND adding new features.

That issue should be solved in v2.9.0.19.
