Seems we need a calibration for transmit too then.

Well, since it fails on a default database I guess we can rule out a setting issue since mine works with a default database and yours doesn't Scott.

I see it appears three of us are running different versions of Thetis. Scott is running 2.9.0.8, Mike 2.9.10, and I'm running 2.10.0. Mike and I are not seeing the large difference Mark and you are Scott. I didn't notice if Mark told us what version of Thetis he is running. That might be good to know.

The problem likely has nothing to do with a particular version(s) of Thetis but it is one thing left that is different so I don't think you can completely rule it out. Since Scott and I are running the same firmware I assume we can rule firmware out.

That leaves hardware and possibly, but not likely, Thetis versions, as I see it. Since three of us are running 7000DLE MKII radios, albeit different "vintages", hardware differences shouldn't be an issue unless Apache does like Icom and "slipstreams" changes in as more radios of a model type are made and then doesn't publically tell what they changed.

Joe

I'm running Thetis 2.10.0.

I have another datapoint. I decided to see if my old Franken-Anan would still run. I haven't tried to use it since 2020 when I got the 7000DLE MKII. This machine has a 2017 MKII board, as they were called then; the successor to the 200D and I think it is the board in the 8000's of that era. I purchased the board only back then. It is coupled with a 200D PA board.

I ran "the test" on this board after doing calibrations for frequency and level and it performed very similarly to my 7000. It was showing an error of -4db (my 7000 was -3db) which was correctible with the Tx Display Cal set to 4.0.

I have an old 200D transceive board but it would be problematic to try to get it running so I don't think I'll try that one.

All I can say is that I'm not seeing the problem here on two different boards now.

Thought I'd chime in here, I have an EP4CE 7000.

I don't have a sig gen that can do +0 dBm, only -17 dBm.

So, I tested per the procedure but shifted down the levels.
In = Signal at RX Bypass
Out= Level seen on DUP panadapter

In dBm vs. Out dBm
-18 = -16.5
-20 = -18.3
-30 = -28.7
-40 = -38.6
-50 = -48.6
-60 = -58.6
-70 = -68.4
-80 = -77.6
-90 = -86.8
-100 = -97.1
-110 = -106.4
-120 = -111.0

Return to “Thetis”
