Digital frequency change after transmit

Postby KC4LZN » Fri Nov 29, 2024 3:33 pm

I have a problem when using WSJT-X that when I transmit, say I am between 500-1000 Hz on 10 m (28.074 MHz) and the software will tell the radio to transmit at 28.073 like it should but when it unkeys, it stays at 28.073. This happens on any band.

I have a beam antenna up 8m above the shack and transmit usually with 40~50 watts. I have changed patch cords, adapters, grounded from everyway possible with a 1:1 balun also on the coax. This only happens on 10m. The antenna and SWR reading at the radio is 1.1:1. I am currently using firmware 2.2.2, ID OrionMKII, Protocol 2 (v3.9) I have had other stations get online to observe my transmitted signal to make sure it was clean and have been assured it is.

I have also noted that, if I decide to stop the transmission utilizing the halt button in WSJT-X, when it is transmitting at say 28.073, when it unkeys, it stays at 28.073 and not back to the receive frequency of 28.074.

Is this a software problem? CAT? I'm all ears for ideas. :?

Well? Just when you think you had everything grounded... Even though the Ameritron ARB-704 PTT box wasn't being used with the amp and/or the amp not even used, the box was not grounded. After grounding that box, no effects of frequency changes. Guess it was finding it's way back throu the RCA jack to the rig.

Wish I had a crystal ball sometimes.
