Thetis 1/24/2020 update

Postby w2gs » Thu Jan 30, 2020 1:26 pm

I uploaded the latest version of Thetis and the new firmware and ran into a couple of issues. I tried loading the new version of Thetis over the 12/24/2019 version and when starting Thetis the tittle block still said Thetis v2.9.9(12/24/2019). Checking MS device manager>programs I found I had to listings for Thetis. One was the new version and one the old version. I deleted both (saved the database) and started over. Now the tittle block showed the latest version of Thetis.

I upgraded the firmware next and when I tried to operated CW there very long delays and strange sounding cw audio in my headphones. CW receive seemed normal. I tried both QSK and semi-breakin and neither worked. I did not try any other modes.

In other reports of the above?

A side note on my earlier post. I went back to Thetis 12/24/19 and the v2.0 pre8 firmware and normal operation was restored. I have used this combination of Thetis and firmware for the last month and everything has worked to near perfection. I worked a CW contest and RTTY contest without any problems. In normal operations CW/RTTY/SSB/FT8 have all worked better than any previous version of Thetis or HPSDR.

This issue was noted in the 2.6.9 thread a week or so back, several have experienced this. The fix is to do what you did, just uninstall all instances of Thetis and install the newest (1/25/2020 at this time).

Dear OMs

Thetis version 2.6.8 worked flawlessly for me with the new protocol and ANAN 200D .
Using Windows 10 64 bit version and 1GB ethernet for several months .
I was tempted by 2.6.9 on January 25th .
I uploaded version 2.6.9 of Thetis and installed it . It installed nicely , loaded the previous settings , but when opening the program It crashed on the loading screen with a message which message I'll copy to you tonight .I did this twice then I returned to version 2.6.8 which worked fine as before . Any clues on what to do to get 2.6.9 working ?
Best regards

Hi Pierre !

After having heard about a new FW implementing transverter operation on the Orion mark 1 board (Anan 200D).
Great thanks to Rick N1GB !
I decided to reinstall Thetis 2.6.9 completely from scratch (after deinstalling a previous 2.6.9 install AND after deleting
ALL Thetis files in C:/Users/UserMe/AppData/Roaming/OpenHPSDR (beware of some Skins which don't work in Thetis and
make it unstable).
After reinstall (and being patient while the wisdom calculations took place) things just work.

(Win10 64 Pro- i7 4770k-25 @3.5 GHz; 24 GB RAM. 500 GB SSD. Anan 200D reworked).
It seems hazardous to pick up a previous data base on some systems.

I've installed the newest V2 firmware and the latest 2.6.9 software 1/25/2020 on my 7000DLE. I find the xvtr port does not work! It worked with the V1 firmware, but never with the V2 firmware. Am I missing something?

If I disable HF amp in the check box, I get nothing out of the xvtr port. Confirmed with my SA. If I enable the HF amp, I get enough bleed through the XVTR port to make it sort of work. Output level -15 to -20 dBm to get 200mW out of my transverter. I think when I disable the HF amp, I get no TX at all. I think the XVTR relay is not being activated upon TX. The XVTR RX works just fine.

Hi John,

Could you try this FW for the 7000/8000, it does address the xvtr issue. Let us know if it
works OK for you:

Is their anyone out there that has bought a new Anan 7000DLE Marl II that recently shipped from Australia? The concern is that you can load Protocol 2 firmware with bootloader, but cannot run Thetis. Any comments would be appreciated.

I bought mine around October and it says made in Australia. I run P2 and thetis. I had the issue you described at first but it was due to a faulty ethernet cable. Thetis requires a gigabit ethernet connection to work.

Hi Rick,

running v2.0b on my 7000DLE and a self-compiled Thetis 2.7.0 works almost perfect for me. Xvtr (144 MHz) is working and also the PTT out (for xvtr / pa) in CW by footswitch is working now. Thumbs up and thanks you!
