How to import SWL list?

Post by w8du »

Sorry if this has been covered already. If it has, I was unable to find the answer:
How do I import a CSV file of SWL stations and what format does the list have to be?

I do not believe there is any way to do this.

I recommend you use CSVUserlistBrowser. This is a really incredible program that downloads continuously updated databases of shortwave broadcasting and then controls the radio in order to tune it the right frequency at the right time. It also has the really amazing capability to look at where the radio is tuned, what time it is, and identify the broadcast you are listening to.

Is there a PowerSDR user who can give us the complete path where the swl.csv files resides?

Hi Scott, there must be some kind of association cos Thetis can't find that file. (see pict)
This file is also mentioned in the PowerSDR manual but it doesn't tell in wich map it belongs.

:D :D :D Thank! You pointed out that i was looking in the right direction... i had copied the files to the Thetis map i.s.o. Thetis-x64
Is there a location where recent files in the correct format can be downloaded? The ones i have are from dec 2020 (BC and utility)

i asked to soon, the EIBI csv works fine! http://eibispace.de/

Hi and thanks for your posts!

Unfortunately, I have to announce that I will not succeed in this operation.
Could you explain once again in plain text how I do this?
It feels like I'm doing it wrong, but hoping to sort it all out.
Especially since I recently bought an active listening loop for AM broadcast that I am interested in testing, and possibly testing for the diversity function :)

ok, here you go

1. download the csv from http://eibispace.de/
2. after the download rename it to SWL.CSV
3. move this file to C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis (or \Thetis-x64, depending on which version you are using)
4. start Thetis and open Spot (at the top)
5. click on the button Spot SWL. Status of SWL Spotter should say in BLUE text: SWL Spotting xxxx (xxx is the number of active SWL entries in the file)
6. if not successful go back to 1 and try again ...
7. click on the button "SWL list", click always on top (if you wish)
8. close the parent window (DX/SWL Spotter)
9. done

Note: this list shows only the ACTIVE stations, based on the time frame in the 4th column.
So you have to refresh the list regularly (button: Update List)
The list works one way: list => Thetis. So it doesn't follow you visibly when you do the tuning yourself.
(unfortunately) The spots don't show up on the FFT or WF.

Thanks for this post! I had come here just to look for info on where to find the .csv file as well. If only the DX spots would show on the map, like it says it does and like the KE9NS software for the flex does. Looks like the same map and everything.
