Hi, i have garagebuild an Angelia radio , based to original ANAN bare board,
Since RAM EPCS-128 is not more available i have installed EPCQ-128 A.
I have tried to download in RAM bootloader pof with ALTERA BLASTER but it immediately totally fails.
https://github.com/TAPR/OpenHPSDR-Firmw ... (ANAN-100D)/Angelia_bootloader_source/Angelia_Bootloader_8Feb2014/Bootloader.pof
I have done successfully similar procedure with Hermes and Odyssey II.
If EPCQ-128 A is compatible please suggest me some troubleshooting actions.
Thanks

EPCQ128A WITH ANGELIA
Re: EPCQ128A WITH ANGELIA
The Angelia schematic shows an EPCS64. So at a minimum you probably need to obtain an EPCS64 or an EPCQ64.
On the Orion MKII this migration was done mid-stream in production as discussed here:
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3081
The same J14 appears on the Angelia schematic on Sheet 2 and the circuit appears functionally identical to that of the Orion MKII.
So you might try installing an EPCQ64 and also installing a jumper on J14, but that's a big guess on my part.
If you look at the datasheet of the EPCS64 and EPCQ64, the pinning and signal definitions appear compatible with the Angelia schematic. However, looking at the EPCQ64A datasheet, the Angelia schematic does not support that part. NC connections must be NC, not grounded, and in particular pin 3 cannot be grounded.

Re: EPCQ128A WITH ANGELIA
Hi, thank you for your answer.
When i open the pof file, with Quartus, it appears the indication EPCS128.
Please refer with attached picture.
The error messages are:
Error (209025): Can't recognize silicon ID for device 1
Error (209012): Operation failed

Re: EPCQ128A WITH ANGELIA
That's all the information I have. I don't know how to reconcile the difference between what you see in the code and what is on the schematic. Perhaps someone could look on their factory built Angelia and see what is there.
In any case, even if we assume the EPCS128 is the correct part, per the schematic the EPCQ128A would not work for the same reasons I already noted above.
I would encourage you to look at the data sheets and schematics for yourself.

Re: EPCQ128A WITH ANGELIA
Hi, since EPCS128 is not more officially produced i have ordered a Chinese clone at Aliexpress .
If someone have updated the bootloader software for EPCQ128 please contact me.
Thanks, 73

Hi Luca,
Here is a QAR file for the bootloader FPGA code on the Orion2:

Perhaps this will help you figure out the changes you need.

Re: EPCQ128A WITH ANGELIA
Looking at the code, in bootloader.v on line 19 it implies the use of the 128 size parts, and it implies support for the EPCQ128A with the jumper set properly.
I don't understand from the schematic how that can work, but maybe I'm missing something. Maybe I have an old/wrong schematic.
