2) Is it possible to read the current noise floor value via CAT?

And it's "sort of, not fully up to date" and "no".

I have started compiling an up to date CAT document, but it's slow going, and I have many other projects active at the same time.

I'll be moving this topic to the rig control sub-forum...

Yes, I read that topic prior to posting my question. In my question, "new" = ver 2.9 to which I see no reference. I'll dig into the source code for now.

It doesn't appear you read that topic closely enough.

There is no need to dig into the source code. Just look at the catstructs.xml file, just as it says in the above referenced topic.
