Seq errors after PC upgrade

Post by vk3amp »

I have been using thetis 2.9.0.6 for a few months now and has been working well.

Today I upgraded my PC to the latest generation. I7-12700. After the install I turned on my new PC but unfortunately I was unable to connect to the radio. It seems when I click the power button it connects to the radio but nothing happens. I can see the seq error 256 flashing constantly. I am getting no sound nor does the waterfall work.

Here is a link to a video to better explain what's going on.

So for I have tried reinstalling Thetis but it made no difference. I am at a loss and have no idea why the hardware upgrade has caused this issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you swap the CPU in the PC or is this an entirely new PC?

If it was a CPU swap, what was the old CPU?

What version of Windows are you running?

It's was a complete upgrade.
CPU, motherboard and ram.
I am running windows 11.

The Old system was an i7-6700.

I'm suspecting it may have something to do with the onboard network card.

That's good, so we know it is a fresh OS that is built properly for the system. Nice upgrade from that 6700!

That makes a lot of sense. I've had similar problems with Killer brand NICs (Qualcomm chipset). Is it one of those?

This might be a good opportunity/excuse to put the ANAN on its own, dedicated NIC.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite which has a Realtek® 2.5GbE LAN chip (2.5 Gbps / 1 Gbps / 100 Mbps).

I have both the PC and the radio going into a Cisco gigabit switch.

A very quick Google search produces a frighteningly large number of results discussing problems with the Realtek 2.5G NIC on a variety of motherboards including yours.

It may simply be easier to buy a dedicated Intel GigE NIC, USB3 or PCIE, disable the motherboard NIC in BIOS, and be done with it.

I agree with Scott , a one or two port dedicated NIC is a great addition.

I've been using a Realtek 2.5G NIC without any problem for years.

My motherboard has 2 NICS, and for me Realtek is more stable than Intel when using Thetis

Maybe you Realtek 2.5 folks should compare driver versions. It could be as simple as using a different driver version. There was a lot of that discussed in the Google search as a method to fix problems.

I'm on an AMD platform.

Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller
Driver version 1125.7.318.2022

But worked flawesly with all previous driver versions.
