RX2 not receiving

Postby KC4MNE » Mon Mar 24, 2025 10:31 pm

7000DLE MKII RX2 stopped working. Could it have been a strong signal fried the front end?

Given what little we've been told so far, that's a possibility that shouldn't be summarily dismissed.

If you mean the signal connected to ADC 2, I've had a similar issue. Seems the previous owner had input a high level signal into RX2 (ADC 2). It fried the filter labeled RLP-40 and the back to back diodes labeled D22 (part number GBLCo3C) . I was still receiving but signals were at least 6dB down from what the other receiver was seeing.

The filter was not easy to replace since it has leads on all 4 sides. I don't have the correct hot air tools to remove such a device so I carefully cut it up with a demel tool and removed each piece. VERY steady hands required to solder the new device in.

The diode pack was easier as, if I recall right, its just 2 leads. After replacement all is good.

I'd estimate total time was around 2 hours, most of which was occupied in removing the board for service. Access to each device was pretty good.

Good luck!
