Low output power

Post by stephan_1975 »

Hi all,

after almost 8 weeks of operating my Anan G2 (brand new delivered late March 2025), I face a strange behaviour. On some bands, the output power is only 70 watts (e.g. 20m), whereas on other bands (e.g. 15m) the output is 95 watts. The measurement was confirmed with an external meter.

Could someone tell me how I can solve this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Have you calibrated your power amplifier?

Hi,

thank you for the reply. I didn't do that so far - I was just afraid I could damage something by doing this (just thought the default values for the G2 would have to do 100 Watts).

Now that I know it is supposed to be calibrated, I'm going to do this.

Hi All,

I have followed the calibration procedure as in Richie's video several times over.

The Anan is doing the power (on its own) its supposed to on respective bands and also my antenna is good.

However when the same power is applied to my amp as with my Icom 7800 the amplifier is not doing the same power using the Anan at the same input power. In fact its quiet down?

Am I missing something?

Jordan--how are you measuring power? Are you using the power metering built into Thetis and the 7800, or are you using an external power meter?

If you are using the built-in power metering, it is very likely that each radio is calibrated a little bit differently for power measurement. The best way to make them the same is to use an external power meter to compare them (at the output of the radios, not the amp). Power meter calibration is possible in Thetis.
