ramdor wrote:@Cory K9CDR, sounds like your DB is slowly becoming corrupt somehow, especially If you have lost filters etc in previous updates. Are you holding ctrl each time when updating the version (only needs to be done if moving from tapr 2020, or any version prior to 21f)? If you are, then perhaps I need to spend some time checking the db update procedure as I have not run it for ages now.
Richie.
Yes, I have held control down when starting Thetis after unpacking the zip into install folder and replacing files with same name and got the same popups about using database from older version and restarting it again after that but without the control key that time. I initially updated from the basic 2.8.11 (10/22/20 or whatever date build that is) and had no issues from that. it was somewhere around rc2 I think it was that I lost receive filters and this most recent one rc4b where i changed the radio to HERMES.
Thank you for all the hard work you're putting into this!!!! I love it

@Cory K9CDR if it happens again, and you start noticing things going wrong, please could you send me the database.xml file
Cheers, Richie.

Release 21k8 was fine, but yesterday I upgraded to the latest rc4 and the AGC tracking feature no longer works. Now when tracking is engaged instead of the AGC sitting 20dB above the noise line, it now just sits exactly on the noise line without the 20dB offset. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

@David, It does work however the -Ga line has changed, and has been discussed extensively within the last 3 pages or so. Move the AGC offset to where you want to hear things at. as it will no long sit at the noisefloor with a 0dB offset. It is now also now adjusted by sample rate and more so by fft size, to ensure a similar gain when moving around the various fft widths.

Why is Ukraine flag on my waterfall?
Why does politics intervene in our common hobby?

If anyone has experience of using the advanced firewall rule system, please drop me a PM if you would be willing to run some tests. I could do with testers for win7/8/10 and users making use of 3rd party windows firewall software.
The next version will have a button to check and re-apply any firewall rules if they are needed. The button will be in H/W Select Network settings area to manually check/fix.
Cheers, RIchie.

Thanks for the information. But I do not think it is a good idea. How to remove this flag?

Yes, very sad

Unfortunately for you in that case, I think it is a good idea, however it is quite possible to remove the flag :
1) do not use your callsign in the software anywhere
2) do not set Russia as the region
3) you should remove any Russian keyboards from your computer and replace with anything else
4) un-install all Russian languages from the operating system
5) use an older version
That should remove the flag, or you could wait a couple of days where it will appear for everyone so you wont feel singled out.

I understand everything, but why did we do the flag of Syria...Afghanistan...? This policy should not interfere with the radio! Please understand this, and do our best to avoid unnecessary conflicts. We must be one ... politicians are deceived, and the media too. Believe me! And if it is not difficult to bring it for a person who is engaged in Tetis ...

I wasn't working on Thetis back then. Explain to me how that a translucent flag Ukrainian flag interferes with your use of radio? It doesn't does it? In fact, as I have said over and over, you can go and use 21k9rc2 and any version before that, so you do not have to look at a flag that seemingly concerns you so much.
The flag will change in the next version to be there for everyone, and will hide away after a click, to show solidarity and to send a tribute to fellow radio amateurs needlessly lost.

Hi Richie
I have finally got around to installing and playing with the new version and noticed the same error on buffer size settings. I change the FM to 64 the same as the others and apply so the error goes away. if I then change band or mode the FM setting goes back to RX:265 TX:128 not every time but most times.
Also the new info bar you say "click the bar to cycle pages" Where is it located, I can't see it for looking?
Thanks for all your great work, I love having a new radio to play with on a regular basis.
Cheers

Thanks for the suggestion Tony, that seems to have done the trick. Had to save the profile for each one separately. While on the subject of saving settings, any idea what saves the RX EQ state ?

Hi
How smoothly can you tune the frequency of the "MultiRX" receiver?
Mouse wheel doesn't work.

The way MultiRX and VFO B have always worked is:
- Right click until you get the red crosshairs, then spin the mouse knob. You can also click tune.
- Same for VFO A if you right click until you get the yellow crosshairs.
- No crosshairs simply defaults to VFO A.
In all cases tuning is very smooth.
When working with two passbands this is when having a MIDI controller of some type with a VFO A and a VFO B knob can be helpful.

Active RX1, RX2, MultiRX.
Rebuilding MultiRX only with a right click works for me.

i noticed the vac routing keeps changing if i change the transmit profile, this was a issue a few builds back than was fixed in the last rc3 release now its broken again in rc4. normally using patchbay Qjack it routes audio from system to ableton lite mixer to thetis than back to system if i change from 3k to 4 k in transmit profile the routing would hold now it adds a 2nd audio path from the first system to thetis bypassing ableton lite you have to remove the path manually so the computer based mixer is the only path or you echo .. i use the mixer to add a audio gate to keep all back ground noises off my signal it only releases if your close talking to the mic this keeps the wife and kids out of my audio chain . safer than telling the wife to shut up lol .
i thank you for all your hard work 73 n8obu

VAC routing is not broken for me in RC4b. It works perfectly with ASIO and Voicemeeter. I can switch between TX profiles like the wind and all remains exactly as it should. Of course all of my TX profiles were carefully set up with respect to VAC parameters--don't forget those are saved as part of the TX profile.
Either your TX profiles are wrong, or perhaps your database got mangled during your last update. Save your database, then try with a reset one.

vac switches off for a tx profile change, and will switch back on after all the adjustments are made as far as I can remember. I could make a check to see if the upcoming vac has all the same settings and not turn it off / on if that is the case, but that is not done atm.
A device is swapped in along with the vac if you have 'restore vac device details from TX Profile' enabled in the Transmit tab.
I cant remember without looking at the logs, but I don't think any changes were made between rc3 and rc4 with the vac stuff.
Perhaps someone else has some info about odd issues like mike is having?
edit: aye what Scott said

thanks Scott.
Cheers, Richie.

I believe that VAC does a reset on any TX profile switch. But that hasn't changed since before Adam was born

so it shouldn't be a factor.
Before the advent of Voicemeeter I used to use Jack on Windows. I don't remember it being that well behaved, but perhaps the Jack of today is much better than I remember.

@scott lol, yes certainly before he was a boy. Just a bit of info, during the speed up process of 21k9d the vac/txprofile load changed slightly.
Prior to 21k9d if a new TX profile was selected that had the same VAC enable state as the one already in use, then the enabled state would be applied anyway. Consequently when each buffer change/etc/etc was loaded and applied, and due to vac being potentially enabled, it could take quite a long time to make the change, causing all sorts of nice debug log as audio devices and buffers changed whilst in use.
Since 21k9d vac is explicitly turned off prior to reading in all the TX profile vac settings, and then turned back on if that new profile requires it.
So there is a subtle difference before and after 21k9d, however it could be improved by checking if anything is different in the about to be selected TX profile vac settings. I will probably add that in at some point, so that an unnecessary turn off can be skipped.

Hi Ritchie, thanks for the latests updates, i have two things about Spotter
1. see pict: when Spotter is not connected it still responds to mouse clicks in the (yellow) list.
When we restart Spotter (not Thetis) with "reconnect on startup" off, then the last list still shows up and responds to mouse clicks.
It would be better if the list would be emptied with mouse clicks disabled in this yellow part.
2. would it be much work to display SWL spots to the FFT when we set "Spot SWL" to on?
regards, Leon

Something to brighten my very dreary mood recently, Ernst OE3IDE has sent over a nice new splash, and it looks great with progress bar and eta to completion time. It will be in rc5 at some point before/during the weekend.
