The HF-Auto program appears to be a shortcut.

@Rob and others. I do have a dev_6 work in progress build than I can give you a dropbox link to. It has lots of diversity issues fixed and a bunch of other stuff. Drop me an email if you want it early, otherwise it is going to be perhaps a week before I get everything in there I want.

Running the latest update on my G2. (5b)
Thanks Richie.
What I did with diversity is set up each MEMORY to go "around the clock", for instance M1 is at 12, M2 is at 1:30, M3 is at 3 and so forth.
Now as I am listening to a station, I can quickly click on the various memories to dial in the station best approximated by diversity, and then use my mouse to fine tune the reception by going in or out.

It would be nice increase the BOLD on the diversity that the Memory has active.

So far this concept is working very well for me and is very quickly changed to the various "compass" headings.
Like it a lot.

@Art, nice one. There are some issues with it in 5b. If you keep the [Gain multi] at [1.0] most of those issues will not matter.

Richie,

I installed version 2.10.3.6 dev_6 (wip_1) about 20 minutes ago and the phasing control came up displaying my M1 - M3 presets perfectly in the phasing control. All the presets were using gain 1.00 so just to mess with things I made new presets with a variety of gain settings for 160 to 40 meters and toggled through them multiple times. They all retained their settings and displayed correctly in the Phasing Control. I couldn't break it no matter what I did so I think you have it sorted out perfectly.

Thanks for this feature and all the others!

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this, but is the AGC Gain supposed to be settable on a per-band basis?

If I set my AGC line where I want it while I'm in 160 meters then go to 40 meters and set the AGC line where I want it for that band, when I go back to 160 meters the AGC line is quite far off from where I had last set it for that band.

@Rob ah good stuff. Cheers.

@Mark yes, it should do. As long as the auto agc noise floor compensation stuff is turned off it should stay put based off the AGC gain slider.

Hello all,

I had a problem with the auto startup function. Thetis didn't like one of the paths to a startup file. When I tried open it for a test, I got this error:
thetis illegal .png
thetis illegal .png (13.34 KiB) Viewed 12849 times
. I did an uninstall and reinstall, but because the bad path was stored in the database, the reinstall gave the same error. I had to manually edit the database to remove the offending path to get it to start properly, Once I did that all was fine.

@kc4vo Just out of curiosity, was there a special character in the path or why was the path not accepted?

@kc4vo that will be fixed for dev_6. A GetFileNameWithoutExtension call was outside the error handlers  :o

I have been looking at this to find the answer, and I believe there was a bad character. The path was to my Flex Tuner Genius utility. I took the path directly from the shortcut I use to launch it in widows:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\FlexRadio Systems\Tuner Genius Utility\TunerGeniusDesktop.exe"

For some reason, most shortcuts (but not all) created in Windows and placed on the desktop contain leading and trailing quotation marks. I copied the shortcut path directly from the shortcut box exposed by looking at the properties box for the shortcut. I did not notice the quotation marks in the path. I had previously copied the shortcut for my Expert Amp control in the same way:

C:\Users\boblo\Downloads\Term_1.3K_package_2.5\Term_1.3K_package_2.5\Term_13k_USB.exe

Note that there were no quotation marks around the path to the file.

The first time I tried the startup option, I use the path to the expert amp control and it worked as expected. Then, I added the path to the tuner (which had the quotation marks) and that's when it failed. So my assumption is that the bad character was the leading quotation mark which one would normally not include in a path statement (but i haven't checked that assumption yet, but it seems logical).

The bottom line is that we need to take the path directly from the location of the executable, not a pre-existing shortcut from the desktop when using it in the Thetis startup option. But because, the bad path will currently be placed in the database, Thetis will continue to crash even with a reinstall of the program. I suspect that most users won't be in a position where they can successfully edit the database to remove the bad path, so the Thetis needs to check for correctly formed shortcuts before they are saved, and strip any "bad' characters in advance.

Currently, this is only my theory because I have not put the bad path back into Thetis to reproduce the problem, so this may or may not be the correct explanation.

Does auto launch support .bat files? I'm having trouble with this command not executing:

.cmd and .exe are the only valid extensions right now. I can look into adding more support and perhaps an option to show console.

Try as I might, I can't get the AGC Gain to stay where I set it. It does behave correctly if I do a Reset Database so I think I'll just sit on my hands until dev_6 comes out then start a fresh setup from scratch.

Thanks for everything, Richie!

cheers Mark. It seems like an ancient bug. Just set all your AGC modes to the same, so Med or something. If they were different AGC gain would get spread around when selecting a band with a different AGC duration. It will be fixed for dev_6.

Updated with WIP_5

dev_6 is still a way out, probably next weekend. In the meantime I have made a work in progress build for those who like to test and experiment. It is over on my drop box. Details below. Cheers. Richie.

Installer for 2.10.3.6 dev_6 wip_5:
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/1ps0kbsu ... w19u3&dl=0

VirusTotal link file for the above:
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/3tcc0j21 ... m56fm&dl=0

WIP change log:
## v2.10.3.6 Change Log - WIP dev_6 wip_5
- [add] new MultiMeter spacer. Many can be added to pad things out. rx/tx colour and fade options
- [add] colour picker for TX-ATT control background in appearance->general
- [add] new MultiMeter item, Text Overlay. Can be used for various display tasks. Many can be added. Short video here : https://youtu.be/LPREPkJhaKY?si=6RxWujVnbqvsdWpd
- [add] .bat files now supported by autostarter
- [change] renamed the [HPF/BPF ByPass on PS] button in code so that a blanket default of ON will be applied everywhere to everyone. Change the setting if required
- [fix] fixed issue at startup or where diversity form is initially shown where no gain is applied if the gain is locked. This would be noticeable with the 'control dot' being centred. Many other fixes in the diversity system
- [fix] fixed issue where 'bad' characters in an autostarter path would cause a crash at start up
- [fix] fixed issue where AGC gains would not be stored correctly and/or could be spread to other bands if different agc modes (slow/med/long etc) were configured for use on those bands
- [fix] fixed issue introduced with the re-work of tx-att in dev_4. The spectrum when tx'ing with duplex enabled is now adjusted by the tx attenuation.

Hi Richie

[add] option in setup for S9 @ -73 or -93 for 30MHz and 144MHz (github #418)

Seems to be missing from 5b and wip 4. Or I cant find the correct TAB to select the option. I didnt try the early versions.
Ihave been looking under appearance-meter.

Thanks
All the best

I know dev_6 wip_4 is a WIP but found an issue with Text Overlay variable %vfoasub%. If you use this and turn off the SubRX the freq display goes to -999.999.000

VFOB variable nicely goes blank when RX2 is not enabled. That would be nice if vfoasub would go blank when turned off.

Hi Richie,

Running Thetis (wip4) and am noticing quite a bit of difference in the TX specturm levels compared to Thetis 2.10.3.5_u2.
All TX profile values are identical for both versions, however TX display levels look very different. See attached photos.

Same TX Power levels, TX BW, TX profile settings, and display values, same band. I also disabled PS and disabled the BPF ByPass on PS settings just incase that was causing something else.

@vk1hx yes, great spot !!! the issue is caused with the new implementation of the tx-att. The attenuation was not getting applied to the spectrum as an offset. So essentilally the spectrum is out by the tx-att setting. Will be fixed for dev6, but I might put out another build later today. Thanks !!

All good Richie, thanks for confirming it wasn't something I missed :). I rolled back to Thetis 2.10.3.6_dev2 and TX was the same as 2.10.3.5u2.
