MSI file won't run

I ran into an issue during the upgrade where the msi file would not run and start the installation process. The solution was to right click on the msi installer file, select Properties, and select the Unblock option at the bottom.

Find out what it did before, and you will find out what it does now.

When blocked windows defender will process it, if you check unblocked then you will bypass this process afaik. Depending on your pc, this may take a while to complete.

The funny thing is I never got the window warning about this program being unknown so I can go thru the steps to load it. It used to do that. This time I would click and nothing happened. I guess something changed during a Windows upgrade but I have no idea what. At least there is a workaround.

Another potential bug,

When running RX2 band and mode changes are not saving to the bandstack. Same issue as reported in older versions of Thetis for RX1. When changing bands on RX2 it reverts to the beginning of the band and mode CWU etc.

Currently there is no bandstack for RX2.

Gee, wonder how that slipped through the cracks with all the development going on.

It didn't, and I considered this when I implemented the current band stack manager system to replace the old one a few years ago. The old band stack manager in Thetis didn’t handle RX2 either, so I didn’t prioritise it. Since I rarely use RX2, it’s currently low on my list and I don’t plan to address it for quite some time.

@I2NOY

If you are looking for your Heil mic discussion I have moved that to its own topic:

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5202

This topic is to discuss bugs and problems unique to 2.10.3.6, not general problems with understanding how to use Thetis or the ANAN hardware.

I could not find the appropriate place on Github for Thetis software requests. If there is a specific place, please direct me there.
I'll post it here if there is not. This is the first request I have made.

I'd like to see a switch to allow either a PTT like function for the TUNE button. Or an option in Setup>keyboard that will allow the TUNE function can work from the space bar.

Hello all,

This is a notice to anyone installing V2.10.3.6 Final Release on:
A computer where Thetis was never installed.
OR
A computer that does not have the \Users\xxxxx\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR folder present.

The OpenHPSDR folder will be present if you were to use the Windows uninstall to remove a previous
version of Thetis.

Installing V2.10.3.6 Final Release on a computer of either type above will result in the tab
General->Ant/Filters-Antenna with NO boxes checked!
This means NO SWR protection, NO ATT on Tx, and NO Gnd BPF2 on Tx. No antenna is selected, but
RIchie says it would default to Antenna 1 with no box checked.

Previous versions of Thetis had these boxes checked for normal operation. If you update from a previous
version of Thetis, there does not appear to be a problem.

I discovered this when installing the Final Release on a bench test computer with a G2. Initial testing was
problematic before this was uncovered. Richie has been notified.

Jack, WB8BFS

This issue is addressed in version 2.10.3.7, which is currently undergoing testing on my Discord server. You can join the server and become a tester to gain access. The Discord server link is available in my signature below. The release date is currently unknown. Here's the changelog so far from version 2.10.3.6:

v2.10.3.7 WIP Change Log
- [add] added OE3IDE Connectors and Tools link to the about box links
- [add] manuals added to about box links/manuals
- [add] new auto attenuate TX when PS is off options in Setup->Ant/Filters->Antenna
- [add] new auto attenuate RX options in Setup->General->Options-1. If the undo option is used the attenuation will be unwound in the order originally applied after each delay period
- [add] Discord integration, let others know when you are on air using the Discord button box. Get scrolling text for #general and #thetis-bot. Config in Setup->Networking->Discord
- [add] Backup prune implemented in Database Manager - GFS (grandfather, father son). Check to enable in the DBMan form (bottom right). Tool tip explains all
- [add] font colour added to button boxes (except for antenna box)
- [add] click colour added to button boxes (default orange)
- [add] warning shown in Linearity form if SetPk is different to that expected for the hardware
- [add] added Thetis bespoke input TCI command spot_simulate_click which simulates a user clicking on a spot in the spectrum. It causes a clicked_on_spot message to go out via TCI. Example test input msg, spot_simulate_click:MW0LGE,3750000;
- [add] added command line option, -noinstancewarn so that no warning is shown if other instances are running. Use -help in a console window to get more info
- [add] new filter item that will view the passband
- mouse wheel/click left-right when a number glows (10 steps default, ctrl single steps)
- drag filter edges in tx + rx
- drag top filter to shift in rx
- uses min/max spectrum grid values for waterfall
- can add notches with the [+mnf] button, and turn the mnf system with the [mnf] button, ctrl-rightclick to add one at the mouse
- drag notches
- right click notch to show popup for that notch
- mouse wheel over a notch to adjust width
- grid snap for common widths when dragging. These can be adjusted in Setup->Filters
- fill to container mode
- duplex mode is used for these displays, duplex off will not be provided
- uses new spectrum duplication system from Warren
- [add] right click setup menu item from the menubar will show setup instantly. To prevent all those repetitive strain injuries and to free up the doctors ! ;)
- [add] added -nospec command line option to prevent the use of analysers when the filter item is in use
- [add] webimage item can now be configured to apply the image to the spectral area, and can implement a slide show
- [change] moved release notes button from setup to the about box
- [change] skin images are resized to button/panel/slider etc instead of relying on tile property
- [change] button clicks are ignored in meter item button boxes that are faded
- [change] nf_1 and nf_2 has become nf, and will read from the trx container it is in (noise floor)
- [change] dragging the filter edges of am/sam/dsb etc will mirror the change to the other side. Shift to prevent this
- [change] adding a notch with +MNF when in CW will place it at centre of CW filter
- [change] refactored code that builds the H/W sample rate drop down
- [fix] inbuilt variables that have name with _double now consider %precis=N%
- [fix] resolved issue where redraw of console controls became very slow after 8thOct Windows update
- [fix] button boxes filter/antenna would not save columns correctly
- [fix] fade on rx and fade on tx fixed for button boxes
- [fix] when in Tx rx1, selecting a bandstack entry will not updated it or attempt to change to it
- [fix] mox & ping ToT now work for times greater than 59 seconds
- [fix] text overlay will now retrieve rx1 and rx2 data correctly
- [fix] setup and other dropdown menus will show if window doesn't have focus and the menu is clicked
- [fix] single cal retries up to 5 times if feedback levels are not suitable. Fixes issue where it would need to be clicked multiple times if tx-att was not where it needed to be
- [fix] fixed issues when serialising an object out to a string to be stored in the database. Resolves missing memories for Diversity
- [fix] crash in IOThreadStop() fixed in netinterface.c if moving between p1 and p2 radios without restarting thetis
- [fix] changing tx filter width when rx2 enabled and vfob-tx will now use the rx2 mode. Very old bug, pre-dates 27th Feb 2019
- [fix] container when docked might move if title selected with the mouse, yet the mouse was not moved. Coordinate issue fixed
- [fix] fixed crash issues when using line_out_start and stop tci commands
- [fix] fixed various midi errors that had been sent in via error logs
- [fix] when engaging rx2 a vfoB update is now always performed which preforms necessary initialisation. Previously this was not happening and sometimes rx2 would show 0.0mhz even though vfob was correct, mostly happened at startup. This is probably not 100% a fix for the 0.0 issue
- [fix] fixed crash issue when swapping between P1 and P2 without restarting Thetis
- [fix] antenna tab is initialised with suitable settings for new databases. This has been broken since early dev 2.10.3.6

Hello Ritchie,
I have been looking on the Discord page and do not see a build for v2.10.3.7 anywhere. I am sure it's old age sitting in and it's somewhere right in front of me. Maybe, I have to fire up Visual Studio and download the source code and compile it?
A hint would be nice.

I don't think there is a 2.10.3.7 version yet generally available, even on discord. The only way you can get the latest experimental builds is to join as a tester on discord.

Terry,
I have been doing some testing on Discord for a while. But, not recently. In the past I could see a test build posted in the Development branch. But, other than some back and forth comments from Ritchie and others, I have not been able to find the latest test build.

Finally got things sorted. I had to join the testing channel to access the latest build.
I will try to participate as often as I can. I have been dealing with some family issues that may not always allow me to be testing actively.
Thanks everyone for your help.
