21d has been posted !

21d is now in the top most post. This patch out of all so far could be the one that creates problems, we shall see. It includes big changes to the band stack system. I have made a vid or two of this explaining it. Also, there are changes to the ADC settings which essentially turns them into a 'linked' mode if they are the same, this effects everything to do with attenuation, and is most likely to have some undesirable impact on a 10,10E,100 and 100B. Also, big changes to the way that the CANCEL button works in setup, it does not now reload the entire DB. Warren has also helped out with some changes for P1 to show DUP in the top panadaptor (this has not been tested at all).

Please read through the fix/changes/addition lists for this 21d patch. Also, the known issue list.

BACKUP YOUR DB ! you have been warned If something goes horribly wrong you can always drop down to 21c or whatever you were using before.

I will be running a youtube stream at 17:00bst (16:00utc) 18th Jul, running through the changes to 21d and trying to find more issues to add to the list for 21e.

Minor issue with the new bandstack window..
Bring up the bandstack window by clicking the bandstack number. Then click in the main console. If the bandstack window is now hidden behind the main console window, you can't bring it to the top by clicking the bandstack number again.

Yes, you can fix this by selecting "Always on Top" but still, you ought to be able to bring it back to the top, I'd think. As I said, it's minor.

(Sorry if this is a duplicate but my previous attempt to post seemed to go into the bit bucket.)

Another minor but probably easy-to-fix issue...

If you lock VFO A, then cycle T/R (PTT or MOX), the band and mode buttons get re-enabled. If you click one in this condition weird things can happen. For example, if you then click on a different band than the one you're on, the mode (and possibly other things) changes but the frequency and band remain the same.

Hi Richie, the 21D update went well (as far as have tested it) but i don't see that "Show Bandstack Filter Manager" button in the new Bandstack pane anymore. It was there in one of your earlier sreenshots. Is that correct?

I havent started coding it, and rather than leave it disabled/greyed out it is hidden for now, as is the hide entry.

LG colour issue resolved, unlock issue resolved. Just sorting the bandstack to front when clicking on the top, then will be releasing 21d2, in half hour or so, perhaps during the stream which is in 30 mins

I looked only for my issues with following results (using Protocol 1 with an ANAN 7000 DLE MKII with NUC I5):

a1) If I use the ATTenuator, the spectrum values are increasing with the attenuation value and also the S-meter readings. For instance, an attenuation of 30 dB, will increase the values on the spectrum and also on the s-meter (see attached PDF).
So sometimes I get S-meter readings above 60dB over S9. Furthermore it seems to me, that no attenuation is active.

a2) If I use RX2 with attenuator, the ATT-value of RX2 leads to a decrease of spectrum values in RX1 and an increase of values in RX2. The same is valid for the S-meter. The same behavior is vise versa, concerning the RX-selection.

b) The values in the diversity gain field are still limited to 1.0 --> so I can't use this version, because I need values above 1.

c) Sometimes Thetis aborts without any error message. I can't reproduce it. Most it happens, when I return from the setup form.

d) If I select "Memory" in the main symbol list, Thetis jumps (concerning the QRG) to the first entry, without a selection by me. This behavior occurs only once after a start of Thetis.

e) How can I clear the "quick frequency recall stack", which is filled with selected QRGs after a 4 second stay? May be I lost some information regarding this usage.

Right click on a filter and select "configure" doesn't work anymore, so you can't set up custom filters.

dl5tt : just so that you are aware, if adcs are the same for rx1+rx2 then then attenuation will be linked. If you change rx2 it will change rx1 for example.

Re: Odd issue w/ FT8 & new builds.

When I began using the new 2.8.11 builds, noticed an odd issue w/ FT8 - increased signal on the JTDX waterfall near the edges of the filter band.

In the image below, #1 = 2.0K filter width, #2 = 2.5K , #3 = 3K, #4 = custom 3.51 K filter width.

Any idea what might be causing this? Looks like aliasing.

If no one else has noticed this behavior, could it be a corrupt database?.

Not seen that issue here. Is digiu selected, and the correct filter size, such as 3.0k? Are you using VAC's or some other method?

Hi Ritchie,
Thanks for the reply. Normally use digu with a 3K filter and VAC. In order to mitigate the issue now using a 3.5K filter so that the abnormal signal falls outside the FT8 passband.

Small display issue in collapsed mode:

When selecting the Rx1 or RX2 VFO, the buttons in the top left of the window turn from white to a very light grey - challenging to see. If possible could they be made to turn black when activated?

DDC1 is assigned to ADC1
DDC2 is assigned to ADC2
according to the defaults for protocol 1. Is that not OK?


But the most (me confusing) point is, that the S-Meter reading will increase following the value of attenuation and 2nd, that I don't recognize any attenuation.

The 2nd point (inverse coupling of attenuation of both receivers) is not important for me, because normaly I don't use the RX2

I am looking it it this evening and will probably install P1 on my 7000 tomorrow. There is something going on for sure. In fact I am noticing a different s-reading compare to 21c which does not have the attenuator changes, so I need to do some testing to figure out what is happening. I assume you have 7000 selected and and alex selected?

21d or 21d2? and did you perform the DB update with CTRL key? Check the entries in the band stack for the current band as well, although these wont prevent you from changing mode.

Hmm, I was concerned that S-Meter was different to the original thetis smeter readings, but after some quick testing they look the same.

I'll have to get P1 on tomorrow and find out what is happening there.

I went back to 21d and it still has problems with mode changes.
You see that it is in USB but the panadaptor shows AM.
I am running the 21d database.
