Hi Mark,
I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago. The cause here was the Elad-middleware software, which translates the Elad TM1 commands into cat-commands for Thetis.

Hi All,
Return to processor load.
I installed both version of Thetis on my new laptop (i5 2.5 GHz 8Gb Ram 250 Gb SSD) linked to the
home network via WIFI @ 5 GHz. Using VAC 1 & 2 to route the audio to the computer sound interface.
Still a big difference between 32 & 64 bit : (settings being exactly the same in setup; RX1 768000 SR and RX2 384000 SR; both RX on)
32 bit : 22 to 24 % processor load
64 bit : 35 to 38 % (with some Errors and audio dropouts)
Any other explanation ?

I have just installed both versions 32 + 64 bit on my HP Elitebook I5 8365U @3,9 GHz, 4GB RAM.
It runs on Win11 and has never seen a Thetis installation before.
I could hardly see any difference in the CPU load.
With the settings you specified RX1 768000 SR and RX2 384000 SR; both RX on,
the load is between 16 and 22% with both versions.
Philip are there the latest drivers and win updates installed?
Have you tried to disable the energy savings, so that the CPU is not throttled?

Ok, in an effort to do some investigation on the off chance something odd was going on, I decided dig out a 'slower' computer and rebuild my 10+ year old MacBook Pro that hasn't been used quite a while. A couple of hours worth of fresh Win10 Pro 64bit in a dual boot setup with OSx, patience somewhat exhausted, I carried on the with the following test. Status bar % was used in all tests as should mirror TaskManager->Details values. Whilst the laptop does have a dedicated nvidia mobile gpu it was not enabled for these tests.
Results : no difference in load noticed between x86 or x64. Perhaps 1-2% lower with the 64bit version, but probably just impacted by OS activity at the time.
As expected no measurable difference was really noted, all variations within expected ranges dependant on background OS activity. However, it was a good excuse to update the old laptop ready for some /P work

Ist a pleasure to se thetis become better and better

.
Thanks to all contributors for the great work!
Has anyone else noticed this behavior of the "band down function" for VFO B on the Cat control?
With the band down function, I expect a change to the next lower band with every click (10, 12, 15m ...). This is done with VFO A.
Using "band down" for VFO B to switch from 10m to 12m, Thetis always calls up the first entry of the band stack for 12m.
If I set a frequency between 21.450 Mhz and 24.999.999 Mhz, "band down" calls up the first band stack entry for 12 m too. But nothing else. Using "button down", a change to 15m is not possible.
If I switch from the
12m band to a frequency between 24.990 Mhz and 27.999 Mhz
with the VFO wheel, "band
down" causes a change
up to 6m.
If, starting with the VFO wheel in the
10m band, I select a frequency between 24.990 Mhz and 27.999 Mhz, "band down" changes to the first entry of the band stack for 12m.
The change to 21,449 Mhz with the VFO wheel causes a change to 15m. This leads to the expected function of "band down" for changes to 17m, 21m etc.
Deleting all entries in the 12m band stack results in remaining at 10m, when choosing "band down".
When changing to 15m with the VFO wheel, "band down" works as expected again.

Hi Jörg,
Thanks for the report.
Two issues found in the code, and fixed for 21h when it finally arrives. One where 12m would not drop to 15m. Also, issue where the rx2 cat command would not move up or down to a band that had zero stack entries. Something to note, the band drop down combo box (and band up/down cat commands) for RX2 will always select 1st entry in the stack (or last visited freq for that filter/stack if no entries in there).

Not sure if this has been flagged, but when you select "Highlight TX Profile Save Items" one of the items highlighted is the Virtual Audio Cable Setup > Driver. But try as I might this does not get saved with the profile. If you change the Driver on one profile it stays that way for any other profile selected.

Noticed you are using WI-FI ! How does it work with ethernet either on your net work or direct connected to the PC ? I occasionally use Wi-Fi Ok At sometimes lower sample rates . Use 64 and 32 bit but not compared processor load

There is a checkbox option in transmit tab. Something like 'recover vac1/vac2 audio device from tx profile'. Not at PC so not sure of exact wording. Whilst they are stored per profile, they are not recovered unless those options are on.

Hi Tom,
it works quite good on WiFi (5 GHz) If I don't get too far away were signal is too weak
(using SR 768000 & 384000 with no seq errors when on RX1 only).
The radio has a fixed IP address on my network and was found on the first try.
By the way I have W10 updated and all drivers also.
Still cannot explain why Thetis_32 uses much less processors load (on both computers).

Phil,
I can report that MS Defender was causing quite high CPU load for me when I first installed Thetis64 so I decided to try BitDefender Free and my CPU load dropped way down. I've been using that ever since.

Ok,

Update : disabling antivirus lowered marginally processor load (1% estimated) and did not alter the difference between 32 & 64 bit version of Thetis (the latter being still twice as demanding on processor load).
Cheers

UPDATED to 21h
Update to 21h for the weekend in #1 post. Some bug fixes, overlays for bandstack entries, and dragging/highlighting of filter edges in CTUN, RMS detector, some new midi commands, advanced VAC option (just the start), network throttle tweaks... etc etc
Warren would like some feedback on the RMS detector if possible. Thanks to everyone who has contributed bug reports, code and fixes for this version.
Cheers, Richie.
Edit: just some download numbers for 21g version, 266 downloads of the 64bit version, 29 downloads for the 32bit
21h
fix: 31/61dB step attenuator issue hopefully resolved. anan-100 was included in the 31 set
fix: RX2 was missed for the CTRL to SHIFT change made in 21g. RX2 scale is now linked to RX1 if SHIFT is held and it is dragged in the spectrum
fix: andromeda button bar [change antenna] function reworked. Will only change to antennas that have TX enabled - code by G8NJJ
fix: RX2 cat ZZBA command now moves down from 12m to 15m as expected
fix: RX2 cat band/up down commands can now move to band that has no band stack entries
add: RMS detector added to panadapter display for RX1, RX2 and TX - Warren NR0V
add: ringbuffer size, number in the buffer, and % in use now displayed in VAC monitor
add: checkbox to tweak NetworkThrottleIndex registry entry in Setup->General->H/W Select tab, in the network settings group. Note: Thetis needs to be running as Administrator to make any change to this registry entry. State is read from registry.
add: option to close band stack window when entry selected
add: band stack entries can be shown in the spectrum (rx1 only), option is in BandStack2 options section. Colour can be changed in Setting->Appearance->RX Display. They only show for the current bandstack. They can be selected with a mouse click. Doing so will not update a stack entry that you might be leaving
add: filter edges are hightlighted by mouse when you are able to drag them
add: you can now resize filter in CTUN by hovering mouse on an edge and dragging
add: new Advanced audio tab. More settings will appear here over time
add: midi TX filter low/high support (wheels) - code Sigi / DH1KLM
change: spectrum grid step is used when adjusting min/max of grid with the mouse by dragging the scales. Previously was a fixed 5dB
change: n1mm udp spectrum efficiency improvements
change: P1 time out code changed slightly
change: now no longer possible to select a tune meter mode from main console that is not in the setup->transmit Tune TX Meter list when you are actively tuning

VERY excited about the advanced VAC settings. I'll probably start a separate topic to compare notes with others on these so as to not jam up this topic. I've lowered the Feedback Gain In and Out to .000001. Time will tell if this is more stable on my PC. If I let the radio run for 24 hours and it has not accumulated thousands of under/over-flows that'll really be something!
RMS detector mode in the panadapter doesn't really seem very valuable to me. Sorry, Warren

(if you are monitoring this topic).
I love the ability to drag the passband edged in CTUN. That has been missing for far too long!

yes it will be interesting to see what happens with those adjustments Scott. Warren has outline 4 or so more settings that will make it through to that advanced tab over time.
The adjustable filter widths was something that I needed to do, just for my sanity
I have noticed an issue with txprofile combox placements on the front end. I will release a quick fix for it over the weekend.

HI Rich,
DF2LH found a bug using 144 MHz (xvtr) and CTUN on RX2. VFOA and VFOB can be tuned to any 2m frequency, activate RX2 and click CTUN. The VFOB frequency reading does not change but the real rx frequency shifts down by 6.88 MHz. I checked that with 21h and 21h2.
That does not happen on eg. 28 MHz!
