Hi,

I have encouraged a fellow who is looking to place an order for ANAN to register and post questions himself. Eventually, I believe he will do so.

Has any of you acquired the new ANAN-7000DLE MKII HF & 6M 100W SDR Transceiver **i7 CPU**? I see that the 8000 model with PC built-in is no longer available. I am not sure why my friend isn't looking at the Andromeda.

Now, to me, it is a no-brainer to buy the "Upgrade" that gives you 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM (in my case, the dedicated PC has 32GB of RAM), but I wonder if anyone has been using this 7k ANAN with the built-in PC? Just to get a reference point. Is the CPU load really high without the Upgrade?

I would value some feedback on this (again, asking on behalf of a friend).

RAM size does not drive CPU loading unless the amount of RAM is very small and it starts to affect Windows OS performance. 8GB is sufficient in our case but 16GB is better overall for Windows IMHO.

SSD size is not a factor at all.

The 8000 was never offered with a built-in PC, only the 7000.

My personal preference is to keep the PC and RF hardware separate. This makes for easier maintenance, easier and less expensive PC upgrades, and greater flexibility in the provision of PC interfaces. There is no advantage in a single box solution other than size. Andromeda is a special case whereby you get the fancy buttons and knobs, but at the expense of a very small, low resolution display. You can add buttons and knobs with a StreamDeck and/or MIDI controller.

At any rate, there's a lot of options out there and everyone must find their own salvation for their preferred form factor.

I do realize that the size of the SSD isn't a big deal, but my question is why does Apache offer the SSD in the "Upgrade" package?

On the 8k with built-in PC; I guess I saw one in a dream
