G2 - Wideband RX Display Shows No Activity

G2 with Latest Richie RC1

Clicking WB opens the Wideband RX window, but the window show zero activity. A couple of others have found this to be the case in their G2's.

As Dick said I am one of two others operating G2 radios with the same issue running the same version of Thetis. K2BU Chas also has the same issue with his G2.
MW0LGE Richie was able to see signals on the WB display on his 7000dle.

We just asked Don W1ADB to click on Wideband to bring up the display on his G2. He did not see any activity on the display as well..
Tonight K2BU Chas started his Anan 7000dle MK-II and brought up the WB display and could see activity on the display.
It would appear that the issue is specific to the G2s.

There doesn't seem to be anything obvious on the Thetis client side that is preventing a G2, perhaps it is not supported yet by the hardware, unsure.

The G2 hardware doesn't currently implement wideband.

Laurence--do you really mean firmware and middleware (p2_app)? Or is there insufficient room left in the FPGA to generate a WB data stream?

The FPGA firmware doesn't implement it. There are substantial unused resources, so it would be possible to add. Is this a feature that users want?

Laurence, Thank you for responding to our posts.
I believe the answer would be yes we would like that feature.
It’s nice to click on WB to see At a glance what conditions are across the hf/6m bands Instead of clicking through all the bands.
if it’s not a huge undertaking to add that feature to the firmware, then maybe You could incorporate that with the next FPGA firmware/P2 app software update.
I know I speak for the majority of the G2 owners when I say thank you for all the hard work you have put into this project.

From what I have seen of the wideband view even though it shows signals, it isn't easy to pinpoint which band(s) are active. If there was a way to expand the view enough to tell more accurately which band one is looking at, that could be helpful.

James,

I'm seeing red stripes (unmarked but present) in the WideBand window that denote the valid HF amateur band limits.

Mark, I see those as well. Maybe, one day someone will investigate the source code for the wideband view and see if it could be expanded upon. I have the source code for Thetis, but,I suspect improving this is well beyond my coding ability. Otherwise, I would give it a go.
It is a feature that Flex Radio is bringing to their new 8000 radios. When though is anybody's guess.

WB display in Thetis is very bare bones, doesn't employ directX, and will crash Thetis if made too wide (> 4096 pixels). It needs updating, new features added etc. etc. but is not something I use, so doesn't really feature on my todo list.... yet.
