Windows 24H2 Update & Voicemeter
Posted: Thu Oct 17, 2024 5:37 pm
I'm attempting to update my Windows 11 installation to 24H2. All goes well up to a point. The Windows 11 Installation Assistant.exe upchucks with a reference to a Voicemeter Driver.
The problem is illustrated here...

I had temporarily installed then removed Voidemeter, but driver concerns still remain. The solution seems to be to remove the VB references. Those are located here...
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository
in a sub folder called: vbvoicemeetervaio64_win10.inf_amd64_xxxxxxxxx
The difficulty I have is I have never quite groked the Properties > Security > Permissions > Edit features of Windows.
I'm hoping someone can provide useful direction on how to go about removing the three Voicemetter entries found in the file repository as outlined above.
Kind regards,
Dick - KA5KKT
PS I am reminded of a song by Kenny Rodgers and the First Edition - Here's a variation of the refrain: 'I just dropped in to give myself permission to give myself permission.'
